Opening day for Anaheim elementary schools is Sept. 11
Earlp registration was being held this week. Officials urged that new students sign up as soon as possible.
Any child who attended the Anaheim Elementary School District last year is not required to register unless the family moved from one residence to another city school area.

Mayor Backs Anti-Commie Auction Rally
The plans for the Orange County Freedom Forum's Anti-Communism Auction-Rally got a boost this week with the offer of full support by Anaheim's Mayor A. J. Schutte. The unique auction, complete with an Anti-Communism speaker is scheduled to be held in Anaheim on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., according to Dr. James Garry of the Freedom group.
Mayor Schutte is expected to welcome the anticipated overflow crowd of countians who will bid on items of household furnishings to be auctioned by Tom Long, real estate auctioneer with Ellis-Schrader Realty

Governor to Speak, Visit City Monday
Arthur Z. Berland, secretary-treasurer of Retail Clerks Union Local 324, announced today that Gov. Edmund G. (Pat) Brown will headline events at a giant union picnic at Disneyland on Labor Day.
Mayor Schutte is expected to welcome the anticipated overflow crowd of countians who will bid on items of household furnishings to be auctioned by Tom Long, real estate auctioneer with Ellis-Schrader Realty of Fullerton. "In our all-out war against the Communist conspiracy, the citizens of Orange County and Anaheim particularly could well provide 'the shot heard 'round the world' through their interest and support," said Schutte.
The public is invited to donate their "White Elephants" to be sold to the highest bidder. This can include all items of personal property which can by auction be turned into cash to be used by the Freedom Forum in providing the educational ammunition needed to carry on the fight against Communism. Other projects of the Forum include the local sponsorship of the Schools of Anti-Communism, the operation of Freedom book stores in various locations in the county, and the booking of outstanding speakers heard in auditoriums during seminars, dinner meetings and rallies.

19,100 Due To Enroll As Term Opens
Record enrollment of 19,100 is expected when Anaheim Union High School District opens its doors Wednesday.
Students may register up until Friday. Officials pointed out that early registration not only helps school planners lay out class schedules and get them approved early, but also assures the students the certainty of being included in classes of his choice.

Both Magnolia and Savanna are new senior highs in the AUHS district. Times will be announced later.)

camp interest activities, and a hayride and meal out of camp.

The family camp committee includes Mr. and Mrs. Charles Long who will assist with the registrations. Mr. and Mrs. Orlo, Fast, Lynn Bush, Bud Nelson, George Williams, Walter Evans, Carl, Feuchter and William Poirer, Anaheim YMCA director and Fred Dewey, North Orange County YMCA co-director.
Fast and Feuchter will serve as chairmen for the two sections of camp.
Among others assisting are Joe Schowalter, swimming; Fred Windgaston, square dance caller; Wally Evans, horseback riding; and Joan Miller and Mary Larsen, baby sitting.

Hike Requested
The California Public Utilities Commission reported today that the Dyke Water Company of Garden Grove and Anaheim has applied for an increase in rates of approximately $380,000 a year on an emergency basis.
The company, which serves some 23,000 consumers in western Orange County, wants to raise its flat rate from $3 to $4.50 a month and its minimum rate from $2.50 to $3.75. Only a fraction of the firm's customers are on metered rates.
