The Woman's World SECTION A, PAGE 3 Major E. J. Bundy To Begin Lectures POLYJOTS A street in Anaheim is called Lullaby Lane. Fits aptly in a birth announcement. Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Cherub of Lullaby Lane are the parents of a baby boy, named Baby Boy, born yesterday in Bassinet Hospital. And speaking of babies, scientists have discovered that babies don't sleep as much as some authorities believe. What authorities? Certainly not the new fathers who have to walk the floor with them. Some cows wear false teeth. Imported dentures from Sweden. So how come cows lose their teeth? They don't drink Major Edgar C. Bundy (of the United States Air Force Reserve), world traveler, author and lecturer, will conduct a series of meetings at Central Baptist Church, 227 N. Magnolia, Anaheim, beginning Sunday, Aug. 13, and extending through the following Sunday. These meetings are part of the Crisis Times Rallies, which Central Baptist Church, with Dr. Bob Wells as pastor, has featured each Sunday night (beginning at 7) during the summer months, and which Rallies have been held outdoors—on the church property—to accommodate the crowds that have been attending, and to "beat the heat." Major Bundy, as a result of his extensive travels abroad and systematic study of conditions there, is an authority on Far Eastern problems. Slaven-H Said In A Rose Marie Slaven became the bride of Wilbert Hechler an early afternoon ceremony performed at St. Justin Mtyr Church in Anaheim. The bride is the daughter Mr. and Mrs. Neil John Sladen of 211 S. Trojan St., Anaheim and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heck. The bride's sister, Margaret served as maid of honor to the double ring service. Jan Slaven was best man. Neil Walter Slaven ushered. A reception following ceremony was held at the home of the bride's parents in a private setting of pink and white And speaking of babies, scientists have discovered that babies don't sleep as much as some authorities believe. What authorities? Certainly not the new fathers who have to walk the floor with them. Some cows wear false teeth. Imported dentures from Sweden. So how come cows lose their teeth? They don't drink enough milk, apparently. Some people just can't bear to be parted from their pets. In England a lady's dog died, so she had him stuffed in a limp position and carries him on her arm. Never let it be said that the world is all explored. The breeding ground for the whooping crane wasn't discovered until 1954. If you're wondering where the money came from for Captain Grissom's shot into space, it was made possible partly by a Torrance real estate broker who, following Sheard's flight, sent $2.25 to Project Mercury as his share of the huge expense with a note saying, "Let's get another one up there." Temple Beth Ohr Sets Installation Ray Routh will be installed as president of Temple Beth Ohr Saturday in Temple on Rosecrans and Santa Gertrudes. Other officers are Herbert Palmer, first vice-president; Bob Frankel, second vice-president; Mel Rash, treasurer; Mrs. Fred Aevin, recording secretary; Mrs. Ell' Sorkin, corresponding secretary; Allan Delman, religious chairman; Herber Blavat, board of education; Mrs. Harvey Sherman, publicity; Mrs. Al Fleischman, adult education; Gregory Asker, land and building; and Sam Kaplan, I.C.R. featured each Sunday night (beginning at 7) during the summer months, and which Rallies have been held outdoors—on the church property—to accommodate the crowds that have been attending, and to "beat the heat." Major Bundy, as a result of his extensive travels abroad and systematic study of conditions there, is an authority on Far Eastern problems, particularly as they impinge on Communism. In June 1949, Mr. Bundy received an invitation from Senator Kenneth McKellar, chairman of the U. S. Senate Appropriations Committee, to testify before the full committee in Washington on the entire Far Eastern situation—including China, Siberia, Japan, Manchuria, Korea, the Philippines, Southeast Asia and Alaska. Bundy's testimony lasted for two hours before members of both Houses of Congress, representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the State Department and all the major news services. The presentation was termed by Republican and Democratic senators alike as being one of the finest given on the Far East before a Senate Committee. Bundy's remarks were read into the record by Senators Bridges, McCarran and McKellar. Bundy predicted under oath that South Korea would be attacked by the North Korean Communist forces which had been trained and equipped by the Soviets. This prediction was made one year and two days before it occurred. He also warned of the impending fall of China and scored the State Department, Dean Acheson and the Truman Administration for what he termed "appeasement of the Soviet Union and failure to recognize the Communist threat" in the Far East. Sunday night at the Crisis Times Rally, Major Bundy will be speaking on "The Basis of Communism." Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights of that same week, he will deal with the "Communist Infiltration of Religion"—in a 3-part Walter Slaven ushered. A reception following the ceremony was held at the house of the bride's parents in a private setting of pink and white. Royal Neighbors Discuss Projects Rosewood Camp 6250 of Royal Neighbors of America held a brief meeting and discussed projects for the future Oracle Lilah Hill presided. Eva Grebel read the minutes and other communications, and members signed cards to send to the sick. It was reported that Ella Mae Bauer, who confined to the hospital, is covering satisfactorily. The ceremony will be followed by an informal buffet and dancing to the music of Gareth Ramos. Rabbi Fierman Due Back to Pulpit Rabbi Morton C. Fierman, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Sholom, Santa Ana, returns to the pulpit after his vacation tomorrow at 9 p.m. From July 1-8 he was on the staff of Brotherhood USA at Idyllwild Pines, Idyllwild, a project of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. While in Idyllwild, Rabbi and Mrs. Fierman visited sessions of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation. During the month of August Rabbi Fierman will devote his sermons to the general subject: "Great Ideas of Our Time."
