Young Republicans To Attend Confab
Departing for Minneapolis will be Miss Willie Gamelin, president of the Anaheim
Anaheim Couple in TV's 'About Faces'
Edward (Bud) Steiner, of 816 S. Ira Ct., was the most surprised person in the world when Ben Alexander brought his sister, Linda, on stage from the audience on the "About Faces" show and discussed his up-coming marriage.
It seems that Linda had written Ben a letter telling him how her brother would like to go to Denver for his honeymoon but didn't have enough money. And Ben, who has been doing nice things for people on his TV show for over a year, brought Bud on stage, surprised him by having his bride-to-be, Judy Gibson, in on the act; presented the happy couple with a package that contained $100, a beautiful silver service and many other gifts.
And, of course, enough gasoline to get the happy couple to Denver and back. Why is he going to Denver for a honeymoon? Seems he was brought up there and wants to show his lovely bride off to all his friends.
Young Republican Club to attend the national Young Republican convention June 21 through June 24.
Among the national speakers to address the convention will be former Vice President Richard Nixon and Senator Barry Goldwater. Following Nixon's address to the convention on Saturday, June 24, a reception in his honor will be given by the California delegation. Election of national officers, the passing of a national platform and valous political workshops will be the main points of business before the convention.
Other Orange Countians who will make the journey are Jim Keys of Laguna Beach, executive vice-president of California State YR's; Branch Kearfoot of Santa Ana, president of the Orange County YR organization; Ross Crum of Garden Grove, and Miss Nancy Root, who was recently selected as Miss YR of Orange County.
Miss Gamelin will depart immediately after the Anaheim Young Republican Club meeting on Flag Day, June 14. Walter Knott will be the featured speaker at the 8 p.m. meeting to be held at the new Keystone Savings and Loan building, corner of Crescent and Euclid Sts. in Anaheim.
