Tickets On Sale for Rodeo
Tickets for El Toro's sixth annual Rodeo-Carnival to be held June 17-18 at the Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, went on sale this week.
General admission tickets, distributed to group representatives, will be allocated to Marine personnel for sale to the public. They will also be available at the various shopping centers presently participating in the Rodeo Queen contest. General admission is $1.50 for adults and 50 cents for children under 12.
Due to "Standing Room Only" crowds attending past rodeos at El Toro, the 1961 Rodeo-Carnival committee ruled for a limited number of reserved seat tickets to be sold this year. Reservations are available for $2 each and may be obtained by writing or visiting the Rodeo ticket office, Building 329, Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro.
This year's Rodeo-Carnival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Approved by the Rodeo Cowboys' Association and featuring the very best in top professional rodeo talent, the El Toro Rodeo will also host the stars of TV's "Hawaiian Eye," the "Outlaws" and other Hollywood celebrities.

Fair Premium Books Offered
Orange County Fair 1961
premium books, listing about $30,000 in prizes and premiums,
are available now to all Orange Countians wanting to enter the big fair, July 11 to 16,
at the Costa Mesa fairgrounds.
It was announced today by Stewart W. Yost, fair manager.
Yost said, "Many people don't enter the fair because they don't realize how simple it is. They also believe their entries have to be of a fantastic quality for competition, but that isn't necessarily true.
Students Build Boat for Project
Two Western High students, John Ishman and Howard Koeing, have spent the last eight months building a boat in a woodshop class. The boat has been a project for the two students but the boat belongs to John Ishman.
The boat was built entirely in woodshop from the equipment in the shop.
"A fair—throughout history—has always been a gigantic exhibit for, of and by the people: in this case—Orange Countians displaying all different ways of life in our county of varied activity. We have entrants from nine to 90. They enter, year after year, because the fair is fun and they have fun."
Yost explained that the 1961 fair will again use the "Hawaiian Holidays" theme and that Hilo Hattie is the featured entertainment by popular demand. But he stressed the importance of entries, saying that no matter what hobby or job a person has he is probably a qualified entrant and a probable award winner at the Orange County Fair.
He said, "All a person has to do to obtain information, a premium book and an entry blank is call Entries Supervisor Mrs. Georgia Lewis at KImberly 5-1131, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m."
