400 to Attend Charity Dance The gala black tie dinner-dance carrying out the theme of Candlelight and Spring Flowers will be presented by the Anaheim Assistance League Saturday night in the Disneyland Hotel. Chairman for the spring charity ball is Mrs. Gilbert Johnson. Mrs. Robert Loomis has planned the decorations. "More than 400 guests are expected to attend the ball and contribute to the league's philanthropy fund." says Mrs. William Hutton, invitation chairman. For the hospitality hour at 7 p.m., the music of Ray Hildebrand was chosen with Mrs. Robert Very and Mrs. William Anderson to be placed in charge of the hors d'oeuvres tables. RNA Club Elects Officer Meeting for a potluck luncheon-Royal Neighbors of America, Camp 6250, recently elected Alice Roberts as vice president of the Past Oracles Club. Lelah Hill presided at the meeting, held in the VFW Hall, announcing that the district convention will be held on May 16 at Wilmington. Members were requested to dress formally. Reports were given on presenting scuffies to the Long Beach Veterans' Hospital and contributions to the proposed Orange County Children's Hospital. Honors to Ella Bauer, Mar- Engagement Announced Miss Martha Louise Lemkau of 510 Pauline St. and Joel J. Van Westerhuzen, also of Anaheim, have announced their engagement and revealed wedding plans for Dec. 27. The wedding will be in Rock Island, Ill., where parents of the bride, the Rev. and Mrs. D. R. Lemkau, reside. Van Westerhuzen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Van Westerhuzen of Orange. Society Sets Fashion Show Madelyn Thomas, spokesman for a Citizens' Committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, has announced that a high-fashion show will be sponsored by the group April 29 at 1 p.m. in the Charter House Hotel. Purpose of the show is to raise funds to aid unwanted or wounded dogs and cats. Proceeds will be used toward the purchase of a truck to transport the animals from throughout the Orange County area to the Humane Shelter in Laguna Beach. Mental Health Group Adopts Hospital Ward Mrs. Norbert Schalk of 1320 Minot St. reported to the Orange County Metal Health Association this week her committee of volunteers has "adopted" a ward of more than 100 male patients at Norwalk Metropolitan State Hospital. The volunteer mental health workers will visit the ward monthly to provide social activity and limited occupational therapy for the patients. "This program is welcomed by the hospital staff as a contribution to the recovery of patients who need to feel they are not forgotten by people outside the institution," said Mrs. Schalk. Supported by funds collected in the "Bell Ringers" march and other donations, the Orange County Association for Mental Health seeks to interest service clubs and women's groups in organizing similar visitation programs. Play SCENE—A scene lively happenings for Saturdium. Theatre Sets Production In its last presentation of the season, the Children's Theatre, sponsored by the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department and the Junior Ebell Club, will present "Mr. Wishbone." The production is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, in the Anaheim High School auditorium. The production will be presented at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. The production will be staged by the Sutro Theatre group of Downey and involves the adventures of many various animals in the forest. This is the second year for the Children's Theatre. Sons of Italy Plan Session Members of the Anaheim Lodge of the Sons of Italy will highlight a spring dinner dance Saturday evening in the Garden Grove Women's Civic Club. A spaghetti dinner will be served from 6 until 9 p.m. followed by the musical entertainment of the Van Blankford Combo and dancing. Spearheading the affair are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rizzuto, 1217 S. Biles of Santa Ana with their first grandson. The baby, who weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz., made his arrival in Anaheim Memorial Hospital. Pick Local Boy For Choir Tour Selected as a member of the La Verne College traveling choir, recently was Bill Thomason, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Thomason, 939 Summer St. The choir is presently touring Arizona, giving concerts at various churches in the Tucson and Phoenix areas. Ebell Club Drive Opens Membership applications for the Anaheim Junior Ebell Club may be obtained from Mrs. Edward Strand, 706 N. Hawthorne St., it was announced by the club. ANAHEIM GAZETTE ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Clubs Plan Garden Show Committee members of East Anaheim and the Anaheim Garden Clubs met at the home of Mrs. Irwin North Jr., 310 Tower Pl., this week in preparation for their annual Flower Show scheduled April 28 at Anaheim Ebell Club from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Co-chairmen for this event are Mrs. K. Seim of the Anaheim club and Mrs. Alla Cranston of the Anaheim club. Both are noted flower arrangers of this area and active members of the California Garden Club Inc. This year several new interesting classifications have been added to the flower arrangement division. One of special interest to the public will be arrangements for each room of the home and arrangement covering the holidays of the year. Admission to the show is free and exhibitors will be on hand. Ebell Women To View Game Members of the Anaheim Junior Ebell Club will enjoy all the "relics" of an exciting baseball game between the Dodgers and the Pirates April 14, in the Los Angeles Coliseum, announced Mrs. Kenneth Keith, chairman of the event. Mrs. Arthur Pressel, president of the club, has reported that the April 8 dinner-dance at the Yorba Linda Country Club has been canceled. Honor Group Otha LeMellott of Anaheim has been named to the Alpha Gamma Sigma, the California junior college honor scholarship society at Santa Ana College. Also named is Peggy Ambuehl of Anaheim.
