PUC Approves Water Co. Sale
Sale of the Dyke Water Company to the City of Garden Grove for $7,337,646 has been authorized by the State Public Utilities Commission.
The water company serves approximately 24,000 customers in Anaheim, Garden Grove, and adjacent areas.
Local Hospital Wins U.S. Rating
National recognition has been won by the new Martin Luther Hospital of this city.
Notification of granting of "rights, benefits, and privileges" in the American Hospital Association was received this week by Hospital Administrator Arthur G. Turner.
The organization stipulates standards of efficiency, 24-hour care, and hospital records as the basis for membership.

Agencies, Clubs Feature YMCA Luncheon Meet
Governmental agencies and service clubs were recognized at the fourth Men's Pre-Easter Luncheon held yesterday at the local Young Men's Christian Association.
The program featured a message by the Rev. Gene Gehres, pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church, and music by Herbert Stabbert and Tommy Thomason, William E. Fricker, former Y president, presided.
Women of the First Baptist Church, headed by Mrs. John McAuly, served the luncheon.
Five Initiated By Soroptimists
Induction ceremonies were held recently for Jean Lampher, Jackie Cruz, Joy Brown, Frances Ballard and Ellen Barr when they became members of the Anaheim Soroptimist Club at the club's regular meeting held in the Disneyland Hotel.
Appointment of Karl Irvin Jr. of Woodland, Calif., as assistant to the president of Chapman College was announced this week.
Succeeding Howard E. Kelley, who resigned in January, Irvin will join the college staff on May 1 to be in charge of the school's development program.
For eight years Irvin was assistant to the president of the California Farm Bureau, directing public relations activities for the organization.
Since 1956 he has been minister of the Woodland Christian Church and previously he served the Fruitridge Christian Church in Sacramento for two and one-half years.
Active in the Woodland Rotary Club and Y's Men's Club, Irvin has been president of the Yolo County YMCA and is a member of the governing board of the Woodland City Schools.
He has been president of the Northern California Convention of Christian Churches and currently he serves on the board of managers of the United Christian Missionary Society.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin have five children. Their eldest daughter, Linda, is a freshman at Chapman.

Ford to Cite Six Local Salesmen
Ford to Cite Six Local Salesmen
Six salesmen from the McCoy Motor Company of Anaheim will be presented Ford Motor Company's 300-500 Club award at a banquet in Los Angeles honoring high-ranking Ford dealership car and truck salesmen of 1960 in the Los Angeles district.
The awards are given for excellent retail sales performance.
The six Anaheim salesmen are B. Lansdown, Joe Doyle, L. Florence, Albert Ketchum, D. Dickenson and T. Thompson.
Theme for Next Rose Tournament Parade Is Sought
Search for a theme for Pasadena's 73rd annual Tournament of Roses on January 1, 1962, was begun this week.
Motif suggestions must be mailed on post cards to the Tournament of Roses Association, 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd., Pasadena, before midnight April 15.
The person sending in the winning idea, with one guest, may view the famed procession from the official reviewing stand and see the Rose Bowl game from choice seats on the 50-yard line.
Area’s Insured Veterans Will Get $9,532,200
More than $106,000,000 of the quarter-billion-dollar 1961 GI insurance dividend payment will go to veterans living in 30 of the country's largest metropolitan areas. Nationally, the dividend amounts to $258,500,-000 in payments going to 5,060,-000 veterans.
The Los Angeles area, which includes Orange County, will receive $9,532,200 of $23,156,-600 to be distributed in California.
Employment tests for multi-lith operators and bindery helpers will be held soon by U.S. Civil Service examiners of the Eleventh Naval District, San Diego.
