Machine That Tells Right Answers to One of the latest mechanical aids to teaching, the teaching machine, will be put into use on a trial basis at Orange Coast College. The Autotutor Mark I was expected to arrive this week.
Use of the machine on a trial basis has been recommended by a faculty committee following several weeks of study, experimentation and observation.
The machine is a device that presents questions to the student who in turn can select his answer from multiple choices given to him. If the student selects the correct answer, the machine continues with another question, taking the student progressively through a series of questions selected to test him on his knowledge.
If the student makes an incorrect answer, the machine informs the student he is wrong and is so programmed that the student must correct his error before proceeding to the next question.

Hanna Offers Narcotics Bill
A legislative bill which he describes as an "effective and reasonable bill" regarding narcotics has been introduced by Assemblyman Richard T. Hanna of Fullerton.
The bill, AB 841, distinguishes between narcotics "peddlers" and addicts, making the penalties for "peddlers" more severe than for addicts.
Under its terms narcotics "peddlers" would be required to be sent to prison or jail, and could not be granted probation.
Addicts, however, could be put on long-term (5 to 10 years) probation, under conditions which would ensure that they would stay away from the use of narcotics.
Also included are provisions which would allow probation for addicts who used minors in the commission of offenses involving narcotics, as is possible under existing law, but would categorically deny probation to others who involve minors in this traffic.
The bill also distinguishes between marijuana and other nar-
