Board Picks Thomason As 1961 Fund President
O. G. Thomason, principal of the Fremont Junior High School, was elected 1961 president of the Anaheim United Fund at the annual meeting of its board of directors this week.
Other officers elected were: Barney Jordan, vice president; Bob Hoy, treasurer; Joe R. Thompson, secretary, and Mrs. C. H. Lawrence, controller.
Jay DeDapper, 1960 fund chairman, was commended for his leadership of the drive which raised $26,802, or about 10 percent more than was raised last year. The 1960 figure represents 90.3 percent of a goal of $290,000 set set as the minimum requirement for the 15 participating agencies.
Board members at large, chosen for three-year terms, are Paul Cook; R. (Bud) Coulson; Phillips Eastman, Jr.; Jerry Flock; Mrs. N. Freck; A. W. (Art) Gray; R. (Bob) Hutchinson; Harold Smith; Babbi A. Tofield; Donald Williams; Rollin K. Wortley; and the Rev. Donald H. Gard.
College Stages Seminar Series
A new adult seminar group at Santa Ana College has started its first season of activity with a program comparing American and foreign institutions of learning.
Guest speaker was Dr. Frederick M. Swensen, SAC French, German and Philosophy instructor, Dr. Swensen studied at the University of Liege in Belgium and received his AB and MA degrees at USC.
News About Our Service Men
Kenneth M. McCoig, machinist's mate fireman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. McCoig of 10601 Crew Dr., and Sidney B. Smith, chief engineman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney F. Smith of 913 S. Palm St., have completed the six-month basic nuclear power class at the Naval Submarine Base, New London. Conn. Graduates of the course go to land-based nuclear reactors, which are duplicates of those on atomic submarines, then to nuclear submarines or nuclear surface ships.
Luther W. H. Einung, electronics technician second class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Einung of 1007 S. Cambridge St., is now serving aboard the destroyer USS Gurke, operating out of San Diego.
Marine Pvt. Galen D. Fortin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey J. Fortin of 927 Magnolia Ave., has completed the 11-week recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

The activity is geared to attract those on the campus who are "over 21." Approximately two-thirds of the student body falls into this age group. Faculty members are also welcome at the meetings.
Future meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. in the Seminar 11 room of Nealley Library. Plans are now being made for the next meeting. February 14. The group intends to have speakers from other area colleges at future gatherings.
Women Set Style Show for Children.
"Mommy's Little Angel," the February 4 children's fashion show to be sponsored by members of Our Lady of the Rosary will be highlighted by a salad luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
The affair will be held at the St. Boniface hall on N. Harbor Blvd., with fashions presented by the Tiny Town Shop in Fullerton. Proceeds from the show will be earmarked for the organization's charity projects.

Charles H. Mulligan, senior chief electronics technician, son of Mrs. Edith A. Jackson of 116 W. Seventh St., National City, and husband of the former Virginia A. Trokey of 217 N. Emily St., Anaheim, is serving at the Naval Communication Facility, San Miguel, Philippine Islands.
Marine Capt. Robert H. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo F. Nelson of 300 Katella Ave., returned to the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station last week with Marine Composite Reconnaissance Squadron Three following two weeks of photo and electronic reconnaissance maneuvers at the Marine Corps Auxiliary Air Station Yuma, Ariz. Units of the Third Marine Aircraft Wing at El Toro regularly travel to the Yuma air station for gunny, bombing, instrument and night flying practice.
