Entries Sought For Science Fair
Public and private junior and senior high schools of Orange County are being invited to submit entries for the sixth annual Orange County Science Fair at Santa Ana College, starting April 29.
From enrollment figures in science and mathematics classes, quotas for entries will be established, since the capacity of SAC's Cook Gymnasium will only permit 700 science entries and 100 mathematics exhibits. When school questionnaires have been received, entry blanks will be mailed out in late February.
Chairman Lloyd Smith has called a science fair conference for February 20 at SAC for final approval of a score of judges from industry, science and colleges. Tables are being loaned by churches, lodges, industries and schools.
The fair will be open April 29-30, May 1, 2, 3, with the Awards Assembly the final event on May 3. Winners will receive savings bonds, medals.

Slight Rise In Housing
Chairman Lloyd Smith has called a science fair conference for February 20 at SAC for final approval of a score of judges from industry, science and colleges. Tables are being loaned by churches, lodges, industries and schools.
The fair will be open April 29-30, May 1, 2, 3, with the Awards Assembly the final event on May 3. Winners will receive savings bonds, medals and ribbons.

A score of winners will exhibit the following week at the Southern California Science Fair at Ventura.
Among science personnel working on committees are Lloyd Smith, Orange Coast College; James Flower, Brookhurst, Anaheim; K. E. White-neck, Newport Harbor High; Ralph Havickhorst, Lathrop, Santa Ana; Miss Mary Fenton, Columbus Tustin, of Tustin; Mrs. Stella Brubaker and Ray Warren, Orange High; Bert Pedernal, Fullerton High; Charles R. Slight Rise In Housing Seen for Year
Housing starts will be up a shade in 1961, and so will construction as a whole, says Ralph Robey of the National Association of Manufacturers in his national business outlook survey this week.
Other of his observations include predictions that:
Farm income will show a slight further rise.
A rise in steel production will get under way—not spectacularly, but as a positive factor on the upside.
Business investment in plant and equipment will be down, but the decline will be amazingly small.
Business men as a group are "not really pessimistic, but are worried over such things as profits, the severity of competition, taxation, labor monopoly power, and so on," said Robey.
Many of them, however, believe that their sales will be higher this year than last.
"One conclusion seems clear," Robey adds, "and this is that we will not experience a sharp upturn or a sharp downturn during 1961."
