New Lutheran Church Will Hold First Thanksgiving Day Service
The Thanksgiving Day service at Lamb of God Evangelical Lutheran Church, Anaheim, will take on added significance this year as members and friends of this new congregation unite in giving thanks to God. Lamb of God Church will begin its third month of existence during Thanksgiving week and will use the Thanksgiving Day festive service as a special service of thanksgiving to God for His goodness to the new congregation in its very beginnings, the Rev. Fred D. Donmer, pastor, said.
The meditation for the day will be entitled "A Truly Thankful People." The worship will be at 10 a.m. in the temporary worship chapel of Lamb of God Church, meeting now in the Hughes Aircraft Employees' recreation building, Rosslyn at Acacia, Fullerton, until the congregation's new church building is constructed at South and Sunkist, Anaheim.
Pastor Dommer also announced that beginning Sunday, Nov. 27, a series of four Advent sermons on the theme "The Coming of the King" will be presented at Lamb of God Lutheran in special preparation.
Plants Instill Holiday Spirit
Don't look now, but the Holiday season is hard upon us. And speaking of such things, how are you fixed for seasonal decor?
A note from the California Association of Nurserymen this week reminds us that there is no surer means of instilling the holiday spirit than with a living plant. And this holds true whether it's a centerpiece of Chrysanthemums for the Thanksgiving table or a tubful of Holly at the front door for Christmas.
Taking first things first, namely Thanksgiving, your number one choice for decor might well be the afore-mentioned Chrysanthemum. Mums come in the colors that speak of fall, and their gaudy blooms stand out like beacons marking the season. The potfuls of color which any C.A.N. nurseryman can show you are long lasting.

Some of the families of football players were seriously affected economically and will require immediate aid as well as long-range assistance. Many persons have asked the college there contributions can be sent.
Inquiries to the college suggest establishment of family relief funds, scholarships for youngsters and other living memorials.

Month Remains For Rose Planting
It's time, when November reaches the halfway mark, for the would-be rosarian to get a move on. He has another month, at least, before bare-root roses arrive in nurseries, but that time is all too short a period to set things in order.
The California Association of Nurserymen reminds us once again that a rose is one of nature's most prolific flower-producing vehicles. It is not grown for foliage, but for the continuous weeks of color it offers us in spring, summer and fall. If a rose seems reluctant to produce this show, it is only natural to replace it. So harden your heart and pull.
You will want, also, to prepare planting holes for new roses to come next month. Work in liberal amounts of steer manure, some leaf mold and some bone meal. Increase the portions of each where ground is poor and where old varieties are coming out to make way for the new.
If you are introducing roses into your garden for the first time, select a sunny site with enough room to accommodate several bushes. While one rose may be better than none, several are a hundred times better than one. Roses were meant for each other, and are far more effective when grown en masse.
