U.S. Commissioner To Give Address At Chapman Rites Dr. Lawrence G. Derthick, United States Commissioner of Education, will deliver the Dr. Lawrence G. Derthick principal address at the Chapman College Centennial Convocation Nov. 15, it was announced today. The Centennial Convocation opens a year-long observance at Chapman College of the 100th anniversary of higher education in the state of California. Y's Crackers Hold Costume Social The Trident Junior Tri-Hi-Y club, the Y's Crackers, were out in full force for the annual Anaheim Halloween parade this year. This was the high point in an evening which included a party at the home of club member Connie Proper. The gals were costumed as flappers and beatniks which contributed to the fun. Refreshments were served by the hostess. A meeting of this club will be held tonight at the Trident Junior High School. The graduation exercises, marking the end of nine weeks of "boot camp," included a full dress parade and review before military officials and civilian dignitaries. Hoisington, aviation electrician's mate airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Hoisington of 609 Priscilla St., Anaheim, is serving with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Atsugi, Japan. He reported to Atsugi Sept. 22 from South Weymouth, Mass. Before entering the Navy in July 1957, Hoisington graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Vt. Marine Pvt. David L. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Smith of 111 S. Western Hi Slates Homecoming Western High School is holding its first Homecoming dance Nov. 18. The dance will be held in the girls' side of Western's gym from 10 p.m. to midnight, following the Western-Anaheim football game in La Palma Stadium. Music will be provided by a six-piece combo headed by Bob McCandles. Western's alumni are invited to come. Each graduate is allowed to bring a non-Western date if he wishes. Each former senior must stop in Western's office and pick up an alumni identification card and guest card, if necessary. They may call or they may have one of their parents call the office to reserve the card if they are unable to call themselves or come in. The cards will be available Nov. 14-18 and without them, no graduate will be allowed to attend the dance. The cards won't be availabie during the dance. As a notice to returning seniors, the price is 75 cents a person or $1 a couple. Girls should wear dressy woolls and the boys should wear sports jackets or suits.
