Zador Composition at First Concert
Eugene Zador, celebrated Hungarian composer,
now living in Los Angeles, will be present at the Orange County Symphony Orchestra's initial concert on Nov. 5, when his composition, "Divertimento for Strings," will be played by the all-professional orchestra.

Dr. Zador was formerly professor at the Vienna Conservatory and in 1935 was named Honorary Professor at the Academy of Music in Budapest and in 1936 received an honorary degree from the New York College of Music. Coming to America shortly after that, he settled in Los Angeles in 1940.
His compositions have been performed by Ormandy, Stolowski, Szell, Monteux, Furtwangler and many others. He has written seven operas, including "Christopher Columbus" which was presented in the New York's Center Theatre, with Metropolitan singers, in a coast to coast broadcast. His prolific talent also produced such works as the ballet, "The Machine Age," numerous works for orchestra, piano compositions and approximately 60 songs.
The work performed by the Orange County Philharmonic is being held this week for all seventh, eighth and ninth graders interested in joining.
Committees are being formed from parents and teenagers to serve the respective clubs which will offer such activities as folk and square dancing, parties, activity nights, social dancing and supervised trips.
Interested teenagers and parents are urged to attend the sessions. Further information may be had by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at KE 3-1321, ext. 85.
