Fete Honors Charles Thomas, New Irvine Company President Orange County civic, industrial and business leaders, together with their spouses, honored Charles S. Thomas on his appointment as president of The Irvine Company and A. J. McFadden, retiring president, at a reception at the Irvine Coast Country Club, Newport Beach. Approximately 300 prominent community leaders attended the function at which stockholders and directors of The Irvine Company and trustees of The James Irvine Foundation also extended their "well done" to McFadden and greetings to Thomas, who has assumed hihs official duties. Loyall McLaren, in his official capacity as president of The James Irvine Foundation, which owns 51 per cent of the stock of The Irvine Company, in welcoming Thomas to his new post, stated: "We particularly welcome the appointment of President Charles S. Thomas, because he represents the forward-looking type of top executive who will continue the accelerated orderly development of the Irvine Ranch. Earnings The largest quarterly disbursement of earnings on savings accounts ever paid by any savings and loan association in this country was made at the end of September by Home Savings and Loan Association of Los Angeles. Based on the 4½% annual rate, Home Savings paid its approximately 250,000 savers a total of $7,895,688 for the third quarter of 1960, representing an increase of 38%, or about $2,179,000 over the $5,717,023 paid in the like quarter of last year.
