National Foundation Clarifies Pointers
The National Foundation and its March of Dimes are not in any way related to the Sister Kenny Foundation which has come under official investigation at its national headquarters in Minnesota, it was emphasized by local officials of the National Foundation today.
Confusion on the part of the public caused by news broadcasters loosely referring to the Sister Kenny Foundation as the "Pollo Foundation" was assigned as the reason for a public statement issued here by John McKittrick of Tustin, chairman of Orange County Chapter of the National Foundation.
Referring to a published report that the attorney general of Minnesota is investigating purported excessive operating costs of the Sister Kenny Foundation and threatening legal action to recover "diverted" funds of the foundation, McKittrick said that the National Foundation "has no connection whatever with the Sister Kenny Foundation."
The National Foundation has its headquarters in New York City.
Remarking that numerous telephone calls have come to Orange County chapters' headquarters here, inquiring about the Sister Kenny probe McKittrick explains
Novel Show For Summer Visitors
A novel animal attraction awaits summer visitors at Santa's Village, the colorful storybook town near Lake Arrowhead, in the San Bernardino mountains—a reindeer, hen and duck who "publish" a newspaper.
"Inky," the world's first educated Arctic reindeer, as editor and publisher of "The Pixie Press," operates a printing press. Hunt and Peck, the educated duck and chicken, are his helpers, a telegraph editor and a society editor. Hunt operates a telegrapher's key while Peck operates a typewriter, all in full view of the public.
The unusual animal trio work in a setting made whimsically into a newspaper office.
Visitors to Santa's Village are permitted to watch them at close range and are issued copies of the unique newspaper, which claims to be the only newspaper in the world published by and for animals and pixies.
The paper actually is a printed publication, containing local news of interest to goats, burrows, reindeers, ducks, gnomes and other animals and elves who live at Santa's Village. It is amusingly written.

Dessert consisted rainbow sherbets served in tall glasses.
The afternoon was spent in ring cards. Mrs. Harold Welch was the winner of the high-score and Mrs. Collis Calvit won the prize for the second high-score. Each lady was given a card to wear to help in get-acquainted. It was noted that she were five ladies present that the name of Evelyn. She is listed by Mrs. Jeanne Herbert Mrs. Evelyn Drummond. Any comer interested in playing bridge with this group may telephone Mrs. Calvit at PR 2-3949 information or reservations.
The National Foundation has its headquarters in New York City.
Remarking that numerous telephone calls have come to Orange County chapters' headquarters here, inquiring about the Sister Kenny probe, McKittrick explained that "we owe it not only to the National Foundation but to all who contribute to the March of Dimes to clear this matter and let the public know that we of the National Foundation have nothing whatever to do with the Sister Kenny Foundation. Nor is there any investigation of the National Foundation underway.
"In the first place," McKittrick added, "overhead costs of the National Foundation are at a minimum. Orange County chapter, for example, expends only two percent of our March of Dimes money for administration and other expenses. Ours is an almost entirely volunteer operation.
"In the second place, there could be no misappropriation of funds in our organization. Our chapter board of directors passes upon all expenditures and works very closely with the staff."
