NOTICE INVITING SAILED PROPOSals FOR FURNISHING ALL PLANT, LABOR, SERVICES, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND PERFORMING ALL WORK NEEDED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION AND COMPLETION WITHIN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM OR ORANGE COUNTY, GALVINIA, ALASKA. ACCORDANCE WITH THE MECHANICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM OF THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT OR WORK: THE IMPROVEMENT OF LA PALMA AVENUE, FROM APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET EAST OF GILBERT STREET TO APPROXIMATELY 600 FEET WEST OF MAGNOLIA AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, PROJECT NO. 84.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals will be received by the City of Anaheim at the office of the City Clerk up to the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M. on the 25th day of July, 1960, and will be opened on said date at the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M., in public, in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall, in the City of Anaheim, State of California, by the City Clerk or City Engineer, for furnishing the following:
All plant, labor, services, materials and equipment, and all utilities and transportation, including power, fuel and water, and performing all work necessary to construct and complete in a good and workmanlike manner, in strict accordance with the specifications, plans and drawings thereof on file in the office of the City Engineer or City Clerk of the City of Anaheim, following the public improvement with the Improvement of La Palma Avenue, from approximately 506 feet east of Gilbert Street to approximately 660 feet west of Magnolia Avenue, in the City of Anaheim, by grading, paving and all appurtenant work, as more particularly set forth in the plans and specifications on file in the Office of the City Clerk or City Engineer.
PURSUANT to the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has ascertained the general prevailing rate of wages in the locality in which the work is performed for each type of worker needed to execute this contract. The hourly made payable to the City of Anaheim, and shall be sealed and delivered to the City Clerk at the City Clerk at the City Hall on the 25th day of July, 1960, at which time sealed proposals will be opened in public by the City Clerk and the City Engineer. Sealed proposals shall be submitted in sealed envelopes and marked in the upper left hand corner. "Sealed proposals for construction of Project No. 84. The Improvement of La Palma Avenue, from 506 feet east of Gilbert Street to 660 feet west of Magnolia Avenue together with the name and address of the bidder. The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract, if awarded to him, and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses to enter into said contract after being requested to do so by the City of Anaheim. Such contract shall be entered into within fifteen (15) days after receipt by said contractor of notice of the awarding of the contract, unless such time is extended by the City of Anaheim.
Each bid must specify the name and location of the mill, shop or office of each subcontractor who will perform work or labor or render services to the contractor in or about the construction of the work or improvement and the portion of the work while will be done by each subcontractor. If a bid is submitted fails to specify a subcontractor as aforesaid, the contractor submitting such bid agrees to perform the work himself.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price and a labor and material bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, and bond company warranty or bonding company warranty to the City Council of the City of Anaheim and shall be approved by the City Attorney as to form and sufficiency before acceptance.
Plans and specifications may be obtained from the City Engineer or the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim at the City Hall, Anaheim, California; for the sum of five dollars ($5.00), if picked up at said offices, or for six dollars ($6.00) if forwarded by man.
The successful bidder will be required to continuously maintain adequate protection or all his work and adjacent property from damage arising out of the performance of the contract and to furnish the City with public liability insurance in an amount not less than $100,000.00 for injuries including accidental death or injury due to any cause incidental to any property damage it may incur. All foremen, unless separately classified as provided in the September, 1959 revision of the A.G.C., B.A.C., H.D.L., E.G.C., A.A.F.L., C.U.O., Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Apprentices may be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the California Labor Code.
The rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be hereinafter set forth in the various rates of per diem wages multiplied by eight.

Plans and specifications may be obtained from the City Engineer or the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim with public liability insurance in an amount not less than $10,000.00 for injuries including accidental death of any one person, $20,000.00 on account of any one accident, and property damage insurance in an amount not less than $40,000.00 and public liability insurance to cover vehicles used by him or any part of the work of said public improvement will be required to use only such manufactured articles materially and produced in the United States and other such manufactured articles, materials and supplies as have been manufactured in the United States substantially all from articles, materials and supplies mined, produced or manufactured, as the case may be, in the United States pursuant to provisions of Section 2390 to 4265 both inclusive of the Government Code of the State of California.
Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 4330 and 4331 of the Government Code of the State of California, price, fitness and quality being equal, the succession bidder and any subcontractors or contractors employed by him to do the work on behalf described public improvement shall be required to prefer supplies grown, manufactured or produced in the state of California and next to prefe, supplies partially grown, manufactured or produced in the state of California.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a Non-collusion Attitudue, copies or which may be obtained from the City Clerk.
The successful bidder or bidders shall be required to enter into a contract with the City of Anaheim in the manner and form approved by the City Attorney of the City of Anaheim.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIT OF A PETITION FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN UNKNOWN PROPERTY
The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bus or to waive any information to the extent permitted by law, and award the further right to award to the lowest description bidder found and determined to serve the best interests of the City of Anaheim.

San Diego opens a Summer Festival in the Balboa Bowl, Starlight Broadway musicals Thursdays through Sundays, and symphony concerts on Tuesday nights.
All rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be the hereinbefore set forth prevailing rates of hourly wages multiplied by eight. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work, it being understood that in the event that workmen are employed less than eight hours per day the per diem wage shall be that fraction of the per diem wage herein established that the number of hours of employment must be eight hours.
The overtime rule establishing the rates of overtime and holiday work shall be in accordance with the following: Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous employment, except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any one day, or during the interval from 10am to 6pm on Friday and 12pm to midnight Saturday, such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of one and one-half times the basic rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work shall not pay for at the minimum rate of double the basic rate of wages, except as otherwise provided in the September 1959 revision of the AGC B.C.A. H.B.I. E.G.C.A. and A.F.L.-C.I.O. Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Holidays as herein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above mentioned holidays other than Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a legal holiday.
It shall be mandatory upon the contract which the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the specified rates of wages to all laborers, workers and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
Each bid shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim and shall be accompanied by a certified or audited check or bid bond for ten (10) per cent of the amount of the bid.
