The Board of Directors of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce approved the following, "Should Orange County qualify in accordance with present criteria for the establishment of a Standard Statistical Metropolitan Area as defined by the U.S. Bureau of the Budget, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce would offer no objections to Orange County's bid for metropolitan area status."
PHILLIPS STATED that he had asked the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to qualify the position concerning Orange County's separate Metropolitan Area status. The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Research Department, in their investigation, sented the following background material to their Board in junction with their recommendations.

Responsible young people have the opportunity to provide the moral stamina and mental courage to offset the "rebellion against constituted authority" so prevalent in this country, Santa Ana Police Chief Edward J. Allen emphasized in his keynote talk for the Men of the Year banquet of Santa Ana College at the Cape Cod House in Garden Grove.

More Optimistic Outlook in Area Following Special Witness
Since the startling announcement of Simon H. Rifkind, special master for the U.S. Supreme Court, that California was about to lose much of her precious water to Arionza, the Southland is gradually regaining her confidence that reasonable hope lies ahead.
On the heels of this announcement, Anaheim business, industrial leaders and city officials returned from a three day tour of the Metropolitan Water District facilities at Parker Dam with a confident outlook for the next several years but when Master Rifkind on the distribution of water between Arizona, Nevada and fornia, deprived the Southland nearly one million acre feet water a year from the Co River.
Without the Rifkind ruling, MWD claims it will meet the growing population by and other sources will then be used to supply future creases. This means, MWD cials say, that those sources have to be found now and ready to operate within 10
Orange County has for a number of years aggressively sought Metropolitan Area status compared to that of the Metropolitan of Los Angeles. Integration of the basic criteria for the Metropolitan area, status and benefit of its proximity to, and its economic integration with, Los Angeles, the Census Bureau has granted Orange County metropolitan area status. From time to time rules of nomenclature andaria have been changed to perdeletions and additions to metropolitan areas."
The earnest desire of Or-County to be a standard Metropolitan area separate from Angeles, and Orange County requested that the Los Ange-Chamber of Commerce ap-peal its request.
THE PAST we supported herfield in its request for met-titan area status, and we did be fostering good relations between Los Angeles and Orange City by offering no objections Orange County's request, did it qualify in accordance with present criteria for the establishment of metropolitan area."
Phillips further stated that this would remove any suspicions or tests of individuals in Orange City who felt that Los Angeles member of Commerce and Los Angeles would oppose separate Metropolitan area status for Or-County. We have already read support from the Los An- Chamber of Commerce in Orange County's endeavor to be part of the Los Angeles, Beach, Orange County'Met-titan Area for equality and cognition for the period prior to qualifying for the Jackpot—own separate Metropolitan Status!!

"It is destructive to attempt to thwart constituted authority, yet there seems a reluctance on the part of responsible people to react to force and violence... the country has never needed moral stamina and mental courage as it does today. Young people should remember it is better to be a good man than a powerful or wealthy man," Allen declared.
High school presidents feted included Robert McClandless, Anaheim, and Frank Ramsey, Western.
Nature's Wonderland Slated For Opening At Famed Disneyland
The newest Disneyland addition, Nature's Wonderland, opens to the public on June 12, and has already been dubbed another Walt Disney spectacular.
In the seven acre wilderness some 200 animals, birds and reptiles will put on a show. Beavers build dams, plug leaks and swim in and out of their houses, slap their tails in the water as a danger warning. Bears fish for their supper in Bear River, chase and grasp fish as they leap from the water. Elk stags lock antlers in battle with realistic charges. Howling coyotes, menacing mountain lions and bobcats, peccary, pronghorn antelope, vultures, deer and sidewinders will emote with raccoons, marmots, fox, skunks, rabbits, ravens, hawks, eagles, bull frogs and an assortment of wildlife.
Each "animal" is said to be made from actual hair and hide of the living creature it represents. Viewers will ride through the Natureland on the old mine train or, for a more realistic approach, on pack mules.

June is an ideal month to put in dichondra, because this dense ground-cover thrives in heat. For quickest coverage, buy dichondra in flats and divide into small clumps. Plant as close together as the C.A.N. nurseryman recommends for the total area you wish to cover.
Fuchsias planted now in hanging baskets will provide decorative relief this summer for porches and patios. Two or three plants to a basket offer best show of color. Remove side branches from tomato plants to conserve plant strength for the fruit on main stem.
Cut off the old flowering spikes of delphinium, and they'll bloom again in the fall.
Cushion chrysan themums planted now (from flats) will make a low-growing, early-blooming, gay summer to fall border. Keep the new plants well-watered and shaded from hottest sun until established.

The Outlook Returns To Special Water Ruling

In referring to the Colorado insure passage of the $1.75 billion River Aqueduct system which is not subsidized in any manner by the Federal government, Pearson said, "We are paying our height for water and shouldn't be expected to have to pay for Arlozna, too."

MWD also held completion ceremonies for the aqueduct at the foot of Mt. San Jacinto in Riverside County, giving the district the ultimate capacity to deliver 1,212,000 acre feet of water annually or one billion gallons of water a day.
