ANCIENT IRRIGATION
Man has realized the need for irrigation of land since the time of the Pharaohs. Irrigation was practiced in Egypt as early as 2000 B.C. The land was divided into basins of approximately 40,000 acres, separated by earthen dikes. Flood waters of the Nile spread over the basins through canals, many of them built by the Pharaohs.
WATER NEED GREAT

Population, farming, and industrial expansion overtook the project. Drought conditions also emphasized the need for stepped-up activity. Today the State of California, through works like the Feather River Project, most acgment sech programs as the CVP in order to keep up with growing needs, says the Library.
The world's first sanctuary for hawks was established in Pennsylvania in 1934 on a ridge where hunters used to slaughter the migrating birds.
