Danbrook School Bid Received
Acceptance of low bid of $622,-733 by Coyle and Higginson of Temple City to build the complete Danbrook school in Anaheim was approved by Centralia district's board of trustees at a special meeting.
The bid includes 15 classrooms, two kindergartens, two special training rooms, an administrative office and multi-nurse room, and is nearly $50,000 under the $672,252.85 allowed by State Allocations for construction of the project.
Next lower bidder was Gilbert E. Starling of Santa Ana, with a bid of $624,507 within $2,000 of the company awarded the contract. Highest bidder was McKiernie-Thelan company, which has just completed the Walter Knott school addition in Centralia School district. Their bid was $658,000.
In commenting on the tight bidding among the competing firms, Glen H. Dvsinger, Sr., district superintendent, remarked that this is unusual in his experience with letting bids. Danbrook school will be the eighth for the district.
Work on the new school plant is planned to start May 4 subject to receipt of approval to sign contracts both by the state department of finance and H.H.F.A., according to Dysinger who predicted the new building could be ready for use in November, 1960.
WAVES were organized by an Act of Congress in 1942.
