SEVEN CITY BOND STILL IN DOUBT Seven city bond proposals were approved by Anaheim voters Tuesday and an eighth issue—expansion of the municipal park system—still was in doubt today. Incumbent Rector (Rex) Coons of 208 E. Broadway and attorney Odra Chandler of 1432 Beverly Dr. won the two open seats on the City Council against a field of 13 other candidates. Coons' total was 5,302 votes while Chandler had 2,991. CITY OFFICIALS described the balloting as relatively light with 10,536 of the city's 29,654 registered voters visiting the polls. Another 113 absentee ballots will be counted Tuesday when the election results are officially verified by the City Council. To Your Favorite Carrier Boy YOUR BEST BUY 30¢ PER MONTH VOL. State Sets Grove Populace at 80,000 The city of Garden Grove has 80,000 residents now, the State Department of Finance has estimated. The city had 68,866 residents 13 months ago. The state survey was taken to determine the city's share of gas tax revenues for the coming fiscal year and based on the estimate Garden Grove will receive an additional $96,000 in revenues. OND PROPOSALS PASS, BT -- COONS, CHANDLER The fate of the city's $1,400,000 park acquisition and improvement program hangs in the balance on the count-of the absentee ballots. Official returns at city hall are the proposition 6,510 yes to 3,304 no votes, slightly than the two-thirds majority needed for passing. Most experts agreed that the overwhelming approval of Coons' re-election, the easy passage of seven ballot votes of the $12 million capital improvement program and light turnout of voters were an indication of citizen approval of the present municipal administration.
