Skyrocket
Within 20 years Orange County’s present junior college enrollment will reach 45,00 students, according to a three-man research team.
The present junior college student population is 7,500.
Anaheim Boy Is State Group Officer
The prediction was made by William Briscoe, UCLA education professor; Dr. Gerhart Rosvold, economics instructor at Claremont College and Dr. Holks Allen, professor of Education at Claremont.
The trio conducted the study for the Orange County Committee on School District organization.
The prediction was based on the fact that the best estimates are that more than one-half Orange County's expected population of 900,000 in 1980 will be under 25 years of age.
In 1980, according to the researchers, there will be 300,000 persons under 5, some 625,000 between 6 and 17 and 350,000 between 18 and 24.
To handle this tremendous growth in junior college attendance the study group indicated the county may need at least 10 two-

The weekend convention, attracting nearly 700 delegates from high schools and junior colleges from throughout the state, saw other Fullerton JC students and instructors also playing an active part in the two-day program of general assembly meetings, discussion groups, and contests.
Dr. Nelson Norman, FJC social science instructor, was the featured speaker at the Friday night banquet, telling the story of his recent trip through Russia.

Area Student B Winners Named
Winners in this area in the round of Bank of America's wide Achievement Awards program for big school seniors announced this week.
For outstanding scholars leadership and promise of service to society, all will receive certificates of achievement; some will get additional help and a chance at the $32,100 cash awards the bank will provide to Southern California students.
Awards cover practically high school subjects: vocational arts, liberal arts, fine arts andence and mathematics.
Some 2400 Southern California students will receive certified 800 will get gold trophies, and will win cash awards. There be 12 awards of $1,000, and one ranging don to a large group $25 awards.
Most of the 800 trophy winners will go to the zone competition compete against other schools this area in April, appearing fore a judging panel of civic rers who will listen to the group discussions of subjects lated to their studies. Area Student B of A Award Winners Named; $32,100 Given
Winners in this area in the first round of Bank of America's statewide Achievement Awards program for big school seniors were announced this week.
For outstanding scholarship, leadership and promise of future success to society, all will receive certificates of achievement, and one will get additional honors if a chance at the $32,100 in awards the bank will present Southern California students.
Awards cover practically all school subjects: vocational, liberal arts, fine arts and science and mathematics.
Home 2400 Southern California clients will receive certificates; will get gold trophies, and 252 win cash awards. There will be 2 awards of $1,000, and others giving don to a large group of awards.
Most of the 800 trophy winners go to the zone competitions to compete against other schools in the area in April, appearing be a judging panel of civic leaders who will listen to them in group discussions of subjects related to their studies. The judges take their scores to the students' scholarship and activity records to name the winners.
In the zone competition, all place winners will receive cash awards; second place winners, $50, and all first place winners will go on to the finals May, where they will receive less than $100 and may win up to $1,000.
To operate such a large program bank dividends the state into identical awards in each division. The state-wide total in cash awards will set a new high mark this year, $64,200 in all.

Mornet Sports Editor Wins Contest Honors
Fred Peritore of Downey, sports editor of the Fullerton Junior College "Hornet" newspaper, won runner-up honors for sports writing at the annual University of Southern California Journalism Day.
Sports writing was one of four writing categories offered for JC students. First place winner was Job Elias of East Los Angeles.
The Journalism Day program, attended by more than 1000 high school and junior college journalism students, heard national figures from newspapers, radio, and television participate in a series of discussion groups.
