Garden Club Contributes to Memorial
Anaheim Garden Club has voted to send a contribution to the Federation of Garden Clubs to assist in defraying costs of landscaping the Memorial Gardens at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
The gardens are maintained as a memorial to air cadets who went through the vast Santa Ana Army Air Base (located on the site of the fairgrounds) in World War II.
2 Local Residents' GOP Delegates
Two Anaheim residents have been named alternate delegates to the Republican Party Convention in Chicago in July.
Named were long time party workers, Mrs. L. I. Ferrell and Coalson Morris.
Chosen as convention delegates were Walter Knott, pioneer Orange County business and civic leader, and Mrs. Robert Hitt of Orange.
Mrs. Ferrell has served on the board of the State Federation of Republican Women and on the Southern Division of Republican Women. She has also been a campaign manager for State Senator John Murdy Jr. and U.S. Senator Thomas Kuchel.

Mrs. Kate Parker has favored us with a copy of the "Revention", the celebrated women's paper, but we think in justice its cause, it ought to be edited a woman instead of a man.

William R. Olden has a lengthy tale in this issue of the Gazette, noting the many advantages he offers to those who want time. He concludes by saying: "Gazette has the peculiar advantage of being located not only in geographical center of this city, but in the center of the best of it, known as the arms ranchos, containing 116-acres of the finest lands in the land, which are selling rapidly being occupied by a steady industrious opulation. But even more thousands of acres still unsold and uncultivated, sitting in their virgin fertility, plow of the intelligent husband."
John Forster writes that hog lives have been operating on his hoo and adds that right in the order of his rancho a party of under the pretense of beeing, stole, killed and salted as many fat porkers as they did carry away. We should say handful of buckshot would fit case, and if parties will abuse privilege of hunting bees upon man's land by stealing his hogs, legislature had better pass a prohibiting the hunting of trees upon private lands unwith the consent of the consent of the reader may not what pinole is—most old street, San Francisco, Mrs. M. Col. H. G. Otis, editor of the Los Angeles Times, seems, according to the dispatches from Washington, to be slated for the appointment as assistant secretary of war. Col. Otis would grace the position and we are free to say that not a single man in the state of California deserves more of the McKinley administration than this same able and conservative Republican editor. Col. Otis might be said to be the original Simon pure Bill McKinley editor of California, with the name blown in on the battle, for while other Republican newspapers leaned toward silver and others tread the primrose path of the Allison folly, Col. Otis hewed to the line and his paper was for McKinley, first, last and all the time. On the occasion of the Reed day celebration in Los Angeles he tramped in the mud in the parade while the "bosses" rode horses, with gay cockades in their hats and patches of golden ribbon pinned upon manly bosoms that would poppy field to shame. We are to hear that the old man is for an important appointment extend our congratulations.
Gus Strodthoff is taking course in stenography and keeping—at the Orange Business college and is said in line for a lucrative position the Alamitos sugar factory that institution starts up tions in July.
Frank Ey has made a trip San Pedro and tells us he has seen such a boom in the years. Frank thinks that when Utah Southern comes this which will probably be in the two years, every section of Western California will experience boom from one end to the other.
