Sunny Anaheim
Former NATO Commander Delighted by Area Climate
General Alfred M. Gruenther, president of the American Red Cross, who was an Anaheim visitor last week, complimented Anaheim and Southern California on its sunny climate.
In a communication to the ANAHEIM GAZETTE, he said, "You may be interested to know that, when I reached Los Angeles International Airport last night (Wednesday, March 9) I found that the jet flight to Baltimore had been cancelled and the Jet flight to Idlewild was no better than a 50/50 proposition. Then I tried TWA and found that they were going to make the flight. They did make it and here I am. Washington has a 5 inch covering of snow and, at the moment, it is still snowing. Also the road from Baltimore to Washington was extremely slippery.
"However, I did not mind any of that because I am still looking over my shoulder toward sunny Southern California. It is really a delightful area, and I can well understand why so many people are moving there."
"Best wishes always, and many thanks for your Red Cross support."

Gordon impassively told police the murder was "a mercy killing."
The suspect, who was under treatment for schizophrenia, said he thought his mother was "menally ill."
He has shown no remorse.
