Public Marriage Will Be Held At Shopping Center Celebration
A public marriage attended by the oldest married couple and the father of the youngest baby in Orange County will highlight the First Anniversary Celebration of Orange County Plaza shopping center Chapman and Brookhurst, Garden Grove, beginning today.
The county's largest shopping center will throw in for good measure a beauty contest for 1960 Plaza queen, a "guess the price" contest, a public benediction by religious leaders, and the longest free "koffee klatch" in history, nine days of free coffee and coolers.
Merchants committee chairman Samuel G. Lampel, of Maggi's Interiors, stated that any Orange County couple, subject to committee approval, willing to be married publicly Thursday morning, March 10, during dedication ceremonies, will receive an all expense honey moon trip to Las Vegas. The first suitable twosome applying to 9735 Chapman Ave. at the Plaza office will be selected.
A champagne dinner and evening show in a famous Los Angeles restaurant will be awarded to the Orange County couple married for the longest time.
The first baby born on Thursday morning in Orange County will receive $100 in gift orders.
Single girls, 17 years or older, from Orange County, can compete in the 1960 Plaza queen contest for $250 in gift orders.

12 Anaheim Seniors In Semi-Finals
Twelve senior students within the Anaheim Union High School District have been named semifinalists in the competition for the 1959-60 California State Scholarships Awards, according to a recent report of Arthur S. Marmauduke, Executive Director of the California State Scholarship Commission.
These students, whose selection was based upon the score made by each candidate on the Scholastic Aptitude Test of the College Entrance Examination Board, include Harry J. Campbell, Robert H. Dickey, Marilyn A. Miller, Bruce M. Shawver, Stephanie Steelman, and Joshua J. Tofield, all of Anaheim Union High School, and Craig A. Finefrock, LeRoy C. McCullough, Janet L. Meler, Jerry W. Partin, Leelle A. Pederson, and John W. Schlue of Western High School.
Each competitive scholarship may net the recipient an annual amount up to a maximum of $600 and may be used at any two- or four-year collegiate institution, accredited by the Western College Association, and located in California. There are no restrictions as to the type of undergraduate program selected by an award winner. A State Scholarship may be renewed annually, under Commission regulations, for a maximum of four annual awards or until completion of a four-year undergraduate course, whichever is earlier.
In 1960, the Commission may grant as many as 2,560 scholarships for the academic year 1960-61. Of this number, approximately 1,810 will be renewals of the 1959 awards, and the remaining 1,750 will be new awards for 1961.

Council Extends Annex Deadline
Anaheim City Council gave petitioners of the so-called Cyrus-Stiller Aves. annexation in the south of the city 10 more days to acquire signatures of property owners Tuesday night when papers presented for the 40-acre annex proved to bear less than the legally required 25 per cent of homeowners living in the area.
The Council also authorized the purchase of two new police cars at a total cost of $4,360 and 7,000 feet of fire hose at a cost of $7,920.
Some Washington observers believe there is a mysterious master-umnist.
