City Master Plan Readied
The city's master plan is nearing completion—and it's big, boy.
The blueprint for the city's future land use and traffic development is calibrated for 250,000 persons. Anaheim has an estimated 100,000 residents currently.
The city planning department reports that the staff has completed preliminary studies and is prepared to start a series of public hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council.
Hearing dates will be chosen and announced at a later date.
THE MASTER plan will designate the proposed locations of industrial zones, residential and business areas, schools, parks, streets, public safety facilities, streets and cultural and professional centers.
It will, if adopted, have only a legal bearing as zone classifications are adopted and amended by the city council.
Planners say the plan's lifetime will be about 20 years. That's when the U.S. Commerce department says Anaheim will attain the quarter-million population mark.
In the preparation of the plan the school districts and the city, county, state and federal governments were consulted.
