ANAHEIM DR. SAYS 5,000 County Families To Take Part in Giant Cancer Research Study Doctors throughout Orange County, along with doctors all over the nation, believe that the statistical information to be gained from the American Cancer Society’s Living Habits Study will be of profound help to them in their fight against cancer, it was announced today by Dr. Samuel Gendel of the Johnston Medical Clinic, Anaheim, president of the Orange County Medical Assn. He said that he believes the six-year study and evaluation of it will show certain factors, now thought to have an effect on the incidence of cancer, to be proved actually true. “Not only will the Living Habits Study have a direct advantage to medical research, it will also have an indirect and immediate advantage,” Dr. Gendel added. “With so many people participating in the gathering of this information in our county, it will have the result of alerting vast numbers of persons to the seven danger signals of cancer.” “The confidential questionnaires, to be distributed to some 5,000 families in Orange County in the last weeks of January, were compiled by the ACS after eminent doctors and scientists from all over the country proposed questions about the living ports on the health status of the families for which they are responsible.
