A3 - Anaheim Gazette (Anaheim, Calif., January 22, 1900) Three Anaheim Students To Represent State At National Food Conference Two Western high school coeds will be among four California delegates to attend the National Food conference in Chicago Feb. 11-13. Chosen were Donna Jane Duvall, 8309 Poppy Way, Buena Park, and Frank Ramsey, 6227 San Ricardo, Buena Park. Joanne Mickelson, Anaheim high school pupil, was chosen as an alternate. The two other delegates to Chicago reside in Santa Cruz county. Orange county's group of 12 included five young men who were transported to Asilomar, on the Monterrey peninsula, by Ronald Squires, vocational agriculture teacher at Brea-Olinda high school. The young ladies rode in autos driven by Mrs. W. J. Richardson, wife of the president of the county farm bureau, and by Ethel Beck, of La Habra, who is chairman of the Farm Bureau Women of Orange county. They left last Friday morning and returned Sunday evening. The project was directed in Orange county by W. J. Richardson, president of the county farm bureau and Alvin Geier, activities director of the Huntington Beach high school. "Food Comes First for Youth-power" is an outgrowth of the food conferences held last year in Washington and Sacramento. Some 30 organizations, including educators, public agencies and agricultural interests are now participating in the conference and furnishing the necessary funds. Mrs. Jensen was a British subject reared in Russia. She was graduated in foreign languages from Leningrad college and has taught in Russia and Germany and tutored in Grosse Point before coming to Costa Mesa. Dr. Blakely said the course is being offered in answer to requests received from adults in the community.
