Santa Ana College Accreditation Extended Another Five Years
Western College Association has granted Santa Ana College the maximum five-year extension of accreditation with a citation as "an excellent junior college performing an important function in Santa Ana and Orange County." It is announced by Dr. John E. Johnson, SAC president.
Reporting to the college trustees at the meeting of the Santa Ana Board of Education (Dec. 22), Dr. Johnson quoted six-member Accreditation Committee as being "most impressed" with what was found on the SAC visit last March. It marked the second maximum five-year accreditation for SAC since Western College Association instituted the accrediting procedure.
Santa Ana College students have always enjoyed full accreditation transfer to other colleges and universities since founding SAC in 1915.
The inspection group comprised Dr. Edward Simonsen, president of Bakersfield College, chairman; Dr. M. Dale Avery, biological science chairman, Long Beach State College; Dr. Lawrence E. Koehler, adult education consultant, State Department of Education;

Heroic Dr. Tom Dooley of Laos Will Use New 'Flying Dispensary' Conditioned at Orange Airport
Dr. Tom Dooley, heroic young jungle physician, will be returning to the remote, undoctored areas of Northern Laos soon, but this time he will be able to continue his medical activities with a "Flying Dispensary" instead of plowing a trail in a jeep as he has for five years previously, according to Johnnie Martin, owner of the Martin School of Aviation at the Orange County Airport.
As both a government-approved and a Piper-approved aircraft and engine repair station, Martin is doing checking and alteration work on the new twin-engine Piper Apache that Dooley will use in his crusade to bring medical aid to the underprivileged people of the island and jungles of Northern Laos.
The 32-year-old doctor, a victim of cancer, has been helping the people in Red-threatened Northern Laos for five years, and not only has he had to face the usual difficulties of practicing medicine in the jungle, but he has had to withstand Communist efforts to sabotage his work. Partly supported by Medico, a division of the International Rescue Mission, in part by the Loatian government and partly by gifts from American surgical and drug firms, last year Dooley's hospital at Muong-Sing, just five miles from the border of Communist China, treated 36,000 patients for the amaz-

Author of "The Edge of Tomorrow" and the 1955 best seller, "Deliver Me From Evil," the royalties of which he has plowed into his medical fund raising campaign, Dr. Dooley has achieved international prominence and has appeared on many radio and TV programs. He has been the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles and will soon have his story filmed by 20th Century Fox, with William Holden playing the former Navy medic. But perhaps Dooley's greatest personal achievement is the Criss award, made by Mutual of Omaha, for outstanding medical contributions. Both Dr. Albery Schweitzer and Dr. Jonas Salk have been recipients of the same award.
So impressed was Secretary of the Army Wilber M. Brucker, he offered his assistance and is sup-
