Guild's 'Mistletoe Musicale'
"Mistletoe Musicale" was presented by the Magnolia Guild of the Children's Home Society at the Gourmet Restaurant Tuesday, and entertaining at the piano were Dorothy Feige Cook of Anaheim and Margaret Spencer Besler of Fullerton.

Anaheim Symphony Has First Concert
A program of light operatic songs and arias was presented by the Anaheim Symphony Orchestra in their first concert of the 1959-60 season in the Anaheim High School auditorium.
Stephen Kamalyan, noted baritone soloist, was guest artist. He sang arias from operas by Leoncvallo, Bizet, Massanet and Gounod.
Westering designed the centerpieces which were sold later along with other holiday items.
Mrs. Cook began her study of the piano at an early age. Holder of a bachelor's degree in music, she studied at the University of Redlands and the University of Southern California. She is the wife of William A. Cook, former head of the music department at Anaheim High School, and now music director at Trident Junior High School.
Mrs. Besler is also a gifted musician, having studied piano, voice, harp, organ, ballet and music composition. While attending the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Mich., she seriously began studying voice and later sang before audiences from Broadway to Los Angeles' Philharmonic Auditorium. When she and her husband moved to California she turned her talents back to the piano.
Proceeds from the Musica will be used to further the Society's statewide adoption services. Last year homes were found for 691 children including 48 children with serious medical or physical handicaps and 25 children of minority heritage.
Mrs. Chester Barker of Fullerton is in charge of plans for the event. Assisting her are Mrs. Charles Owens of Anaheim, president of the Guilford and the following local women Mmes. Harry P. Burford, Robert Dockson, Robert Loomis Durand Miller and Charlie McHenry.

For Christmas
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold their annual bazaar December 11 and 12 in the VFW hall of N. Philadelphia St., it was announced at the group's regular meeting.
Elizabeth Aldrich presided over the meeting.
Seven escorts went to the VFW Hospital in Long Beach.

Deltas Rummage Sale Tomorrow
A rummage sale at 203 Broadway, Santa Ana, tomorrow will be held by the Eastern Orange County alumnae of Delta Delta Delta. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Items offered for sale include wearing apparel for men, women and children, furniture, toy appliances, shoes and knickknacks.

Philharmonic Group Sets Concert Date
The Orange County Philharmonic Society will present a free-to-the-public concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra Saturday evening at 8:30, Dec. 5, at the Santa Ana High School auditorium, 520 W. Walnut. Marie Handy, accomplished soprano of Santa Ana, will be the soloist, with Frieda Belinfante, Philharmonic musical director, conducting the concert.
Now in its sixth season, the Philharmonic, composed of professional musicians from Los Angeles and Orange County combined, has become an important feature of musical life of Orange County.
Marie Handy, a native of Washington, D.C., has been active in musical organizations and concertizing, since she came to Santa Ana three years ago. She received her musical education at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. Md., where she was awarded the Snellenberg voice scholarship. She has appeared in concert tours and in opera in the East, also was guest artist on network broadcasts with the ABC Symphony in New York City. With the Army Band Symphony Orchestra she made Voice of America recordings, which received world-wide distribution. While in San Diego, Miss Handy won the San Francisco Opera auditions there.
Although admission to the Philharmonic concert is free, an entrance ticket is necessary. Tickets may be obtained by addressing: the Orange County Philharmonic, P.O. Box 12, or phoning KI 5-9280.

AUHS Grads Of '21 Hold First Reunion
The Anaheim Union High School of 1921 held its first reunion last week with a large turnout of graduates, husbands and wives and faculty members.
Of the original graduating class of 61 students, 36 were able to attend, some coming from as far away as New Orleans, La., according to George Kohlenberger who acted as master of ceremonies.
The reunion was held at the Royal Hawaiian Restaurant with a dinner and floor show.
Class president Francis Eliott gave the welcoming address and introduced Kohlenberger, who briefly traced the history of the school which was built in 1913 when Anaheim's population was only 7,800.
Among those receiving special honors were Mrs. James Craig (Lillian Clemmer) of New Orleans, who came from the greatest distance; Mrs. Ernest Chapin (June Heald) of Indio; and Mrs. Virgil Ward (Miss Belen Lopez), art teacher and class advisor in 1921.
Attending from Topeka, Kan., was Mrs., Albert Knopf (Rita Coate) and her husband.
Kohlenberger also read a letter from the class valedictorian, Dr. Martin Leuschner, who was unable to attend.
Anaheim Jaycees Set Polio Clinic
On Saturday the Anaheim Junior Chamber of Commerce will sponsor another much needed polio clinic for residents of the northern county area. The clinic will be held at the Broadway-Anaheim Mall, an easily reached location.
Old English Music Presented by CC
The Chapman College Music Department presented "An Evening of English Music" Tuesday in the college's Little Theater.
Participating were members of the Chapman faculty, students, and community residents who play in the Chapman Symphony Orchestra.
Works performed represented a time span of more than 600 years, according to Dr. Edgar Sholund, professor of music and head of the department, and included three dances by John Dowland, 16th century composer, "Golden Sonata" by Henry Purcell in the 17th century.
The Madrigal Singers, under the direction of S. Sheldon Disrud, instructor in music, performed the two oldest works on the program — "Sumer Is Acumen In," written around 1310, and "Pastyme with Good Companye," written by King Henry VIII in the early 16th century.
Grandmothers Club Party Is Dec. 15
The Anaheim Grandmothers Club 380 will hold its Christmas party Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Garden Room of Knott's Berry Farm.
It will be a cafeteria luncheon and exchange of gifts will be held.
The club's president, Mrs. Maxine Ownby, has asked each member to bring a new or good used book for children between the ages of 4 to 14 to be presented to Perry Magee, superintendent of Orange County Juvenile Hall, in answer to his appeal.
Anaheim Jaycees Set Polio Clinic
On Saturday the Anaheim Junior Chamber of Commerce will sponsor another much needed polio clinic for residents of the northern county area. The clinic will be held at the Broadway-Anaheim Mall, an easily reached location.
Doctors, nurses and other friends of the Anaheim Jaycees, have volunteered their services and weekend time, to administer the polio clinic. Jaycee chairman, Bernard Ginsberg, states that 1st through 4th injections will be given, along with booster doses. Shots will be given from 1 to 5 p.m. at $1 each.
Chapman College Great Films Guild is now showing the French production, "He Who Must Die" tonight at 8 o'clock.
Canyon Juniors Schedule Dance
A Christmas dinner-dance will be held by the Canyon Junior Women's Club Dec. 19 preceded by a cocktail party at 7 p.m., it was announced by Mrs. Howard Henning, chairman, at a recent meeting of the group at the Anaheim-Ebell clubhouse.
Among other activities members will bake cookies for the Chaplains' Service Corps "cookie lift" this year and will be honored guests at a tea Dec. 10 by the Corps.

The 38th annual meeting of the Crippled Children's Relief Association of Orange County, Inc., was held at Harris Restaurant and election of officers were held.
Re-elected were Miss E. Kate Rea of Anaheim, president; J. S. Blaisdell, M.D., Santa Ana, first vice-president; Mrs. E. D. White of Santa Ana, second vice-president; Mrs. Mary Jane Anderson, secretary; and Mrs. Robert Null of Garden Grove was named new treasurer.
In the annual report it was revealed that 168 persons were helped in one way or another in the past year.

Mrs. Vincent Peltzer and Mrs. John Ahern, co-chairmen of the affair, have announced that the dance will be held at the Sunny Hills Recreation Club in Fullerton, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
