Industrial Firms Aid in Boosting St. Jude’s Fund Contributions to the St. Jude Hospital Expansion Fund Drive have reached $370,874 according to a report by Miles A. Sharkey, Steering Committee chairman, at the weekly breakfast meeting. “This is an increase of $34,561 over the report made last week,” Mr. Sharkey said, “and it shows that the campaign is still moving strongly forward. Sixty Big and Special Gift Committee Members are still working and they are continuing to interview commercial and industrial leaders in the community. Christmas In the Art Gallery' On Exhibit at Fullerton Junior College "Christmas in the Art Gallery" will be the theme of an art exhibit to go on display in the new Fullerton Junior College Exhibit Hall on Dec. 7. The gallery is in the Art-Home Economics Building. The Yuletide exhibit, a project of the college Art History class, will include selected reproductions of works of art inspired by the Christian religion, including mosaics, stained glass, illuminated manuscripts, icons, frescoes and paintings of the Madonna. Garlands of evergreens and three dimensional stars suspended from the ceiling will also highlight the exhibit. Students In Charge Students in charge of planning the exhibit are Dick Odel, Brydon Shirk, Nancy Boos, and Ann Langston. Students assisting in preparation of the Christmas display are Mary Chitwood, Linda Thomas, Marilane Murray, Kathy Hauter, Barbara Scully, Pat Parshall, Dave Judson, Duncan Vanderbilt, Nancy Slater, Sally Stallings, Susan Miller, Lucienna Hill, Pat Kelinhardt, Mary Lou May, Jeanne Fairweather, Renee Amelotte, Mel Fling, Rex Morris, Dennis Williams, Carl Heimberger and Don McCalla. The exhibit hall is currently displaying an All-Alumni art collection of painting, etchings, photographs and ceramics. Following Christmas, a traveling exhibit of prize winning junior college photography will go on exhibit in the art gallery. Aeronutronic Folk Donate $41,705 to NOW YOUR ADVERTISEMENT IS DELIVERED BY CARRIER TO 15,000 HOMES IN ANAHEIM ANAHEIM GAZETTE Aeronutronic Folk Donate $41,705 to Orange Charities A total of $41,705 has been pledged by employees of Aeronutronic, a division of Ford Motor Company, at Newport Beach, to Orange County charities for 1960, under the newly-established Aeronutronic Employees United Contribution Plan. Included is a contribution to the Anaheim United Fund. The pledge, averaging more than $48 a donor, is believed to be the largest per capita donation ever recorded by any Los Angeles or Orange County Industrial group. Mail Man Promoted Postmaster Marshall N. McFle of the Anaheim Postoffice, announces promotion of Accounting Clerk Joseph Rosenzweig to the supervisory post of accounting assistant. The position is a new one for the Anaheim postoffice and was created because of the city's exceptional growth and subsequent expansion of the postal operation requiring additional accounting controls. Obituaries MARCUS E. RICHARDS Marcus E. Richards, who achieved the age of 100 years, passed away at the home of his son, L. E. Richards, 5452 Bradford Ave., Placentia, after a prolong illness. Born in Green County, Missouri, he had been a Placentia, Orange County and California resident for 31 years. Mr. Richards spent 75 years in the merchandising business, having owned his own business for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Church of the Lord in Placentia. Surviving are two sons, L. E. Richards of Placentia, and Albert Richards of Oklahoma; two daughters, Gertrude Fulton of Missouri, and Lillicient Osborn of Yorba Linda; four brothers, Lon and Ed Richards of Oklahoma, James of Missouri, and Robert of Huntington Beach; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Oehlert of Long Beach; three brothers, Charles of Texas, Vern of Minnesota and Ralph Barnum of Iowa, and one sister Mrs. Laura Neeson of Minnesota. Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Backs-Troutman & Kaulbars, the Rev. Earl Kernah officiating. Interment was in the Melrose Abbey Cemetery. Anaheim Masonic Lodge members officiated at the grave. DAVID S. BARTON Funeral services for David S. Barton, 83, of 221 S. Clementine St., who died Tuesday, Nov. 24, after a short illness, were held at the Backs-Troutman & Kaulbars Chapel Friday at 10 a.m. The Rev. A.J. Casebeer officiated, with interment in Melrose Abbey Cemetery. Surviving are the widow, and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Letha Roberts of Anaheim. MRS. EFFIE LACEY Mrs. Effie Lacey, 75, of 936 Iroquois St., Anaheim, passed away at Anaheim Memorial Hospital, Saturday, Nov. 21, after a short illness. Born in Kansas, she had been an Anaheim resident three years and in California since 1919. Surviving are two sisters, Theresa Busby of Sacramento and Bird Simpson of Pasadena; two brothers, Kenneth Twineham of Kansas, and Ruhle Twineham of Kansas, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Backs-Troutman & Kaulbars, with the Rev. A.J. Casebeer officiating. Interment was in Loma Vista Cemetery. ENEDINA M. SALINAS Following a short illness, Enedina M. Salinas, 71, of 7092 Gonzales St., Placentia, died at her home. Born in Mexico, Mrs. Salinas had been a resident of Orange County and of Placentia. ALBERT G. SNOKELBURG Albert George Snokelburg, 70, of 912 N. Philadelphia St., died suddenly in St. Joseph's Hospital, Tuesday, Nov. 17. Born in Kansas on May 9, 1899, he had lived in Anaheim for 10 years. Mr. Snokelburg was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was active in the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus in Wichita, Kans., and the Orange Coast Mineral and Lapidary Society. He is survived by his widow, Mildred Snokelburg and one brother, Henry Snokelburg of Monrovia. Holy Rosary was held at Backs, Troutman & Kaulbars Mortuary. Requiem mass was celebrated later at St. Boniface Church. Interment followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. BETTY ANNE WALKER Mrs. Betty Anne Walker, 37, native of Indiana, who came to California five years ago and who had resided at 1831 Diana St., Anaheim; died at the Doctor's Hospital in Santa Ana following an extended illness. Surviving are her husband, Milton J. Walker; two sons, Donald Micuall and Kenneth Kopton, both at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Szackacs of Indiana; one brother, John Szackacs, Jr., and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Kolbas, Mrs. Pearl Kish, Mrs. Loretta Allen and Miss Rose Ann Szackacs, all of Indiana. She was a member of St. Anthony Claret Catholic church. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church, Hammond, Ind., and burial was made in St. John's cemetery at 1547., 167th St., Hammond, Ind. Police Grab Suspect In Thrilling Chase Following an exciting chase through downtown Anaheim streets, three detectives apprehended Clark M. Gray, 27, giving his address as 325 Claudina St., on a felony warrant for alleged writing bad chacks. The detectives, Sgt. Harold Bastrup, John Wilson and Al Stevens found the suspect wasn't home. When Gray returned they attempted to arrest. He broke away and ran down the street. After a lengthy chase he was caught. Hilgenfeld Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. WILLIAM M. BIGELOW Funeral services for William McDowell Bigelow, 75, of 312 S.Clementine St., who died Sunday at Orange County General Hospital, were held from Hilgenfeld Mortuary with the Rev. Earl P.Fry officiating. Burial was in Melrose Abbey Mausoleum. He was a native of Wheeling, W.Va., and had lived in Anaheim for 51 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs.Dorothy Whitlock and a son,Fred Austin,(of Chicago. MILDRED EVERITT Funeral services for Mildred Everitt, 70, of 210 Curtis Way who died Saturday at her home will be held in Denver.Colo., with burial there also.Hilgenfeld Mortuary is in charge.She was a native of Denver and had lived in Anaheim for the past six years.Surviving are a daughter,Mrs.Ela L.Pope of Anaheim and a son,Harold R.of Denver,and two grandchildren. BUNGALOW ELECTRIC SHOP ENEDINA M. SALINAS Following a short illness, Enedina M. Salinas, 71, of 7092 Gonzales St., Placentia, died at her home. Surviving are four daughters, Carolita Luna, Cataline, Antonia Guillen and Nellie Galban, all of Placentia; two sons, Felix Puentes and Antonio Puentes of Placentia; one brother, Jose Moreno of New Mexico, 19 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Rosary was said in the Chapel of Backs-Troutman & Kaulbars Mortuary. Later mass was celebrated at St. Anthony Claret Church. Interment was in Holy Sélpulcher Cemetery. KAY M. DRAKE Kay M. Drake, 70, of 614 Hawthorne St., Anaheim, passed away at Garden Paek Hospital following a short illness. Born in Michigan, she had been making her home for the past eight months with her granddaughter, Mrs. Norma Brady at the Hawthorne St. address. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Hammis of Michigan; one son, Wilbert H. Schemmp of Tennessee; one brother, Theodore Drake of Long Beach; one sister, Lulu Baker of Canada; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three Anaheim Groups Capture Disney Awards Three Anaheim organizations were among the 11 Orange county entries winning $9,000 in grants in Disneyland's third annual Community Service awards. There were entries from 103 organizations. Anaheim winners were Grad Nite Party committee; Anaheim Lions club and Anaheim Lions Breakfast club; and League of United Latin American Citizens council No. 316. Each was awarded $1,000. The major award winner of $2,000 was the Latin American Friendly Center of Orange, in behalf of its work for the citizens of Latin American heritage in the community. Other awards of $1,000 went to the Orange County Association for Retarded Children Association, Raymond-Acacia PTA of Fullerton, and the North Orange county, Children's Home Society of California. Watkins. The defendant is Josepa Raya, Sr., 15062 Crowther St., Placentia. It is contended that the boy suffered a broken leg, broken ribs, skull fracture and brain damage when struck by a car operated by Raya last June 12.
