Anaheim and Fullerton Mayors Oppose Southern Cities Plan to Make Airport Only a 'Feeder' Type (Continued from Page One) firm headed by William Pereira, should be ruled out because of a conflict of interest involving a similar contract with the Irvine Co., Phillips announced. The third plan is that submitted by the Stanford Research Institute. Although all three proposals are under study, Phillips has no assurance that the board will ac- cept his pleas and award the contract Tuesday. He only has the word of Board Chairman Willis Warner that he would be willing to vote on the matter by that date. A possible push toward adoption of the plan was given supervisors by Kenneth K. The rejection was based on the fact that one county is considering an overall air study and the FAA did not want to spend money on projects which might be found unnecessary or incomplete in the overall program. The proposal submitted by Daniel, Mann, Johnson and Mendenhall and Booz, Allen and Hamilton proposes to use materials and information now held by various public and private agencies, particularly on future growth, maps, aerial photos, wind and weather data, existing facilities, civil and military air traffic and traffic and transportation patterns. In addition, the group proposes to cover possible air traffic in the county by 1980, an analysis of present and future types of aircraft, air traffic hazards, Federal aviation agency criteria, state, regional and military air plans, facility needs for local flying and that of a more metropolitan nature, potential airport sites if needed, expansion of existing fields, approach zones, support facilities and community relations. Phillips said he did not want to tie the hands of any firm making the study by setting a pre-determined runway length. Instead, he asked that the contract be awarded with the understanding that the runway would be the first order of business within the study. C. of C. Awards were presented to Al Marcoux and Harold Smith for their cooperation in handling the Anaheim Hallowe'en parade. Thanksgiving (Continued from Page) Exceptional traffic problems. A2 - Anaheim Gazette Strongarm Methods By Book Sellers A crew of 20 sales people representing a Michigan City, Indiana, publishing setup, last week obtained a license to canvass Anaheim homes. Two days later, the license was revoked — too many reports of "strongarm" methods. Householders complained that some of the salesmen utilized the old "stick the foot in the door" method to effect sales, as well as other unorthodox means. Police heard that they even threatened one of their own members, a girl native of Denmark. She was told that unless she made a requisite number of sales daily, she would be deported. $168,000 Factory The Dr. Pepper Bottling Co. has been issued a $168,000 permit to construct a new plant at 1301 W. "The future of Aeronautics's space technology operations is unlimited in an era devoted to the conquest of space," Dr. Johnson told the Anaheim Gazette this week; "some of the most advanced facilities in the country have been constructed by Aeronutronic to assist the members of space technology operations in meeting the rigorous schedules imposed by the race for space." Importance Stressed He said that the importance of these and other space programs to Orange County cannot be over-emphasized. "The attention they will bring to this area will further help establish Orange County as one of the major engineering and scientific centers of the nation," Dr. Johnson said.
