City Council (Continued from Page 1) voir is only seven million gallons, with between 30 and 35 per cent of its supply coming from wells. Water, obtained probably from the Metropolitan Water District, would move by gravity into the mains. It would have to be chlorinated, but no further treatment would be necessary. Old Library Obsolete A new main library building, to replace the present obsolete one, and one branch in the western part of the city. A new central fire station, and at least two more branch stations. The present central station, inadequate, would be sold or removed to a new location, in which case it would become a branch station. Station No. 4, Orange and Dale, which provides protection for the west end, was recently opened. Acquisition of land for future use, especially in developing a system of community and neighborhood parks in various parts of Anaheim. Acquiring this land now will save the city thousands of dollars later on. Electrical facilities: The Hannum West Side substation facility, 12-KV, is half complete. Two other facilities in the northeast and southeast are projected. One may be of 60-KV capacity, the other 12-KV. Two other facilities in the northeast and southeast are projected. One may be of 60-KV capacity, the other 12-KV. Increased street construction and storm drainage for sewers which can be accomplished through use of current funds. Some of these are combined City-County Sanitary Districts projects. The city manager says that current income of the city warrants sale of general obligation bonds to finance top priority projects. What Council Did at Tuesday Meeting Council Tuesday night, enacted the following: The request of St. Boniface School for permission to erect two additional classrooms was granted, providing certain safety restrictions are carried out. A reclassification ordinance providing for rezoning property of the Inlet Company in the Pla-centia-Cerritos annexation provoked lengthy discussion. Councilman Rex Coons sought adoption of an ordinance calling for a blanket covering for larger, rather than smaller tracts, thus saving deliberative time by Council. Most councilmen opposed this, preferring to deal specifically with each instance of zone changes. Council agreed on the latter method and in the Inlet Company application passed an ordinance on first reading for business and industrial zoning, providing necessary restrictions are met. Zone Changes Approved Council approved a request by George N. and Mary Jewell Watts for a change of zone from R-A to C-3 at intersection of Lincoln and Stanton Aves., and the balance to C-1 on the same property where it is proposed to erect a new market. Mark Andrews made the presentation. Request of Jim A. Horsley for change of zone from R-2 to R-3 on properties at 211-215 South River. Mark Andrews made the presentation. Request of Jim A. Horsley for change of zone from R-2 to R-3 on property at 211-215 South Rose St. (west of Rose, between Center and Broadway), was approved. It is proposed to erect multiple-family dwellings on the tract. Request for two years extension by Hulda M. Hemmerling and Emma Meger for C-3 to C-1 zoning on property on the west side of Euclid Ave., between Lincoln Ave. and Broadway, was approved. It is planned to build a shopping center on this 20-acre tract. Signal Light Expense Application of Mrs. Barbara Thomason for a traffic signal at Brookhurst and Cerritos where traffic fatalities occurred recently, brought a statement from City Manager Murdoch that at present there are other crossings where signal lights are more in demand. He explained that this year the city provided $86,500 for traffic signals at more critical crossings and $10,000 for signals at less critical points. Purchase of Edison facilities along Magnolia between Crescent and Lincoln for $6,499.65, and on the east and west side of Hampton St., south of Crescent, for $5,-669.43, was authorized. Both will serve many family residences and the latter eventually also the Delco and U.S. Motors plants.
