Jack Groat, who just returned from Las Vegas where he signed name bands for next spring and summer. The mixed appetizer is one of my favorite dishes. It consists of many types of Hawaiian delicacies (shrimp, barbecued ribs, ramaki, hagoa and others for only a $1.50). I prefer this with their heavenly LEILANI salad, Chinese tea and fortune cakes. It makes me hungry to think of it. The service is superb. It would be hard to pick my favorite waiter or waitress—but Norma Herron, who has been with LEILANI for several years, is real special. She even remembers her customers' idiosyncracies (such as liking olives in Hawaiian gimlets). Ray, a Chinese chef, has been there for 18 years and he knows everything there is to know about Cantonese cooking... Stop in and say hello to your debonair host Don May. Ask him to show you the long, burning, Hawaiian Easter candles. Stopped Sunday afternoon (with a girl friend) at the CHALET for apple pancakes (and they were real scrumptious) filled with sliced apples and topped with cinnamon spiced ones. The cakes were so enormous that when another friend joined us, we asked for another plate and divided with him... Even then, we had more than an average serving... They were not only big, but good... And you're served these wonderful pancakes in an atmosphere set in the motif of a Swiss Chalet. Put the CHALET on your calendar today. For a real special fish dinner (lobsters, yellow tail, claims, or any other sea food that you prefer) SAM'S SEAFOOD in Surfside is the place... The food the place... Visit their gift shop, delicatessen, and fish market while you are there... No trouble parking either, as they have a large lot for your convenience... Have you stopped to say hello to Hal Gregg yet? This is the born and raised Anaheim boy who really made good... Ex-Dodger star Hal, I hear, is also a terrific golfer... The specialty at HAL GREGG'S STEAK HOUSE is their charcoal broiled steaks (from $2.15 to $2.45) served from 5 to 12 p.m. As for entertainment, Bob Corell and Buddy Levelle are really wowing all with their versatile act... They are well known on the Las Vegas and Palm Springs circuit... Be sure and catch their act... Don't forget Harry Ross' air taxi and charter service... A real cool way to fly to Vegas, Palm Springs, or other spots around the U.S.... Harry, of course, is the mayor of Seal Beach. Last week was the grand opening of a new LADY FAIR FIGURE SALON in Anaheim... Now you girls can reduce the quick, easy way...
