Orange Coast College Buildings Are Named by County Clerk Wallace Three major building projects for 1960-61 and two for 1961-62, estimated to cost $1,032,000, have been given the green light by Orange Coast College Board of Trustees. They include expansion of the Technology building at the Costa Mesa campus, a new gymnasium and development of a new parking lot south of the Administration building. The Technology building expansion calls for an electronics laboratory, a business data processing laboratory and a storeroom. The electronics laboratory would be used for training of students in maintenance of computers and other electronics equipment used in the new business data processing major. $550,000 Gymnasium William Stanton and S. T. McNeal, electronic technology instructors, are currently developing a curriculum in this new field. Both instructors took advanced work this past summer preparatory to setting up a curriculum and a laboratory. The business data processing laboratory, now housed in temporary quarters in the Home Economics Center, would become the instructional center for training students in programming. Estimated cost of the two laboratories and a storeroom is $70,000. Replacement of the present wooden gymnasium with a new building for physical education is estimated to cost $550,000. It will area between the gymnasium and the baseball field. Approximately 200 additional spaces would be provided by the new lot. OCC currently has 1,716 parking spaces covering 15 acres to accommodate visitors, 2,300 day students and 6,500 night students and more than 200 employees. Estimated cost to develop the new lot is $12,000. Plans For 1960-61 In a long-range look at 1960-61, the board gave approval, subject to further consideration, for a wing to the Art Center and Business Education buildings. The Art Center addition would accommodate expanded photography and journalism operations and provide six classrooms. The Business Education building wing would accommodate grocery merchandising, and a typing laboratory and seven general classrooms. Estimated cost for each project is $200,000. The building projects for both years will be financed by the paygo system used by the college since its founding in 1947. Other Projects Readied Building projects which have been completed this year on the 245-acre campus include expansion of the Student Center, construction of the new outdoor Snack Bar, extension of parking lots, installation of curbs and street paving and completion of three tennis courts. The large lecture hall, to be called The Forum, is nearing completion. The Forum will be The business data processing laboratory, now housed in temporary quarters in the Home Economics Center, would become the instructional center for training students in programming. Estimated cost of the two laboratories and a storeroom is $70,000. Replacement of the present wooden gymnasium with a new building for physical education is estimated to cost $550,000. It will be located near the present building and the two swimming pools. Parking needs for visitors and campus employees will be relieved by installation of a new lot along Fairview Rd., south of the Administration building. Employee and visitor parking facilities have been temporarily expanded this year by opening the Physicians Pledge $140,385 Toward St. Jude’s Project One hundred and ten pledges, totaling $140,385, have been received to date from doctors in the hospital-service area toward construction of a new 125 bed wing addition for St. Jude’s Hospital, according to Paul K. Doyle and R. Fernandez, M.D., chairman and co-chairman of the Hospital Expansion Fund Medical Committee. In a statement, Dr. Fernandez said, "our doctors recognize the serious need for additional hospital beds and facilities in North Orange County. There is an increasing need for hospital services and present capacity cannot meet the demands made upon it. Accordingly, our doctors have led the way with their generous pledges to this cause. These gifts now announced represent new amounts subscribed for construction of the new wing. The doctors contributed to the original building fund campaign in 1954, and at that time, they provided more than $95,000 as their part. Max Levine Given Fine Testimonial By Beth Sholom Temple Beth Sholom of Orange County, staged a testimonial dinner Sunday evening at the Royal Hawaiian restaurant, 1025 Los Angeles St., Anaheim, honoring Max Levine, president of the congregation, 1956-59. Mr. Levine, during his office, gave of himself and of his wherewithal, unstintingly to the Temple. Through his efforts the congregation was set on a path of spiritual, physical and financial growth. His spirit of efficiency, his kindliness, his profound understanding of Judaism, and his deep and abiding general interest in congregational life and the reform movement, endeared him to his people. Clatworthy, new secretary-manager of the Orange County Associati vices and present capacity cannot meet the demands made upon it. Accordingly, our doctors have led the way with their generous pledges to this cause. These gifts now announced represent new amounts subscribed for construction of the new wing. The doctors contributed to the original building fund campaign in 1954, and at that time, they provided more than $95,000 as their part. "The new wing will not only provide for 125 additional beds, but it will include more emergency and operating rooms. Every firm in the area served by the hospital has a real stake in the expansion program. We of the medical staff invite the business firms and the residents of North Orange County to join with us in making this drive a success. "Both state and Federal governments have recognized the serious hospital emergency in this area. These agencies have granted $1,470,074 to expand St. Jude provided that we, who are residents of the area served by the hospital, subscribe the $700,000 needed to complete the project." Members of the Doctor's Steering Committee in addition to Mr. Doyle and Dr. Fernandez are: Edgar E. Struve, M.D.; William H. Wickett, M.D.; Stanley E. Roberts, M.D.; John E.
