Anaheim’s City Officials Move In Force on San Francisco for Meeting of California League Much of Anaheim’s city administration moved intact Sunday to San Francisco, but not for keeps. The city officials, including Mayor A. J. Schutte, City Manager Keith A. Murdock and Police Chief Mark H. Stevenson, were among the more than 2,000 delegates gathered in the Golden Gate city for the 61st annual conference of the League of California Cities. Some 275 of California’s 358 incorporated cities were represented, the meetings lasting through Wednesday. Others of the Anaheim city administration attending were: City Councilmen Charles A. Pearson, Rector H. Coons and Glen G. Fay, City Engineer Thornton B. Piersall, City Clerk Mrs. Dene Williams, City Treasurer Mrs. Maybell A. Spencer, Finance Director Miss Beatric M. Miller, Fire Chief Edward J. Stringer, City Attorney Preston Turner, Personnel Director Charles E. Griffith, Planning Director Robert W. Mungall and Public Works Director W. F. Friday. Opposes Reappointment Principal speakers were U. S. Senator Thomas H. Kuchel of Anaheim and John Kennedy of Massachusetts, and Governor Edmund G. Brown of California. Mayor John Erreca of Los Banos is president of the league. Meetings were held in the Sheraton-Palace and St. Francis Hotels. Directors, at the outset, opposed the Los Angeles County plan to reapportion the State Senate on basis of population. The reapportionment plan which would increase Southern California's representation in the Senate at Sacramento, was proposed last summer by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Walter Carpenter, the league's secretary, contends that its inclusion on the ballot in 1960 would impair chances of passage of the statewide $1,500,000,000 water bond issue. Orange County's net share, after deduction of administrative costs, is $198,415.28. The apportionment covers six months, based on a trailer count of 182,315 in the state. The fee is levied against trailer homes in lieu of property taxes.
