THIS IS A Woman’s World DORIS LEE — SOCIAL - CLUB EDITOR Xi Eta Eta Members Hear Talk on Safety Rick Schlickling of the Anaheim Red Cross gave instructions on the new mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration method at the regular meeting of the Xi Eta Eta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi which met at the home of Mrs. Jack Rea, 421 N. Vine, recently. Schlickling also gave interesting tips for safety while swimming. The program was in conjunction with the chapter's Civil Defense program under the guidance of Mrs. Don Henry. Mrs. James Farrington, social chairman, presented plans for the Exemplar Rituals, to be semi-formal, which will be held Nov. 13 at the Anaheim Bowl. Slated to receive degrees are: Mrs. Don Nelson of Garden Grove, Mrs. Newell Cranston of Whittier, Mrs. Jerry Tubbs of Buena Park, Mrs. Jay Griebel and Mrs. Elmar Karp of Anaheim. Mrs. Rea instructed members in the art of making Kleenex carmation flowers to be used in the float being prepared for member, was appointed "idea scrapbook" chairman for the year. Mrs. Rea volunteered to serve on the Northern Orange County Council Valentine Dinner Dance committee along with members from the ten other chapters in Orange County. The chapter welcomed Mrs. Richard A. Davis of Anaheim, a transferee, into the chapter as an active member. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Don Nelson, 9851 Oasis, Garden Grove, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. At this time members will enjoy a toy party to be presented to the members by Mrs. William Hall, president of Chi Pi chapter. AHS Class of '21 To Hold Reunion Members of the reunion committee for the 1921 graduating class of Anaheim High School are interested in learning the whereabouts of several Fifteenth century staging combined with the color and beauty of Renaissance period costumes will mark the presentation of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" by the Orange Coast College drama department. Performances will be given Dec. 10, 11 and 12 at 8:15 p.m. in the college auditorium. Tickets will be required for admission. There will be no charge. A special invitation is being sent to English students of Orange County high schools for the Dec. 10 performance, according to Lucian D. Scott, OCC drama instructor, who is directing the play along with John Ford, OCC drama instructor. David Emmes, Newport Beach, OCC sophomore, will play Hamlet, prince of Denmark and son of the murdered king. Others in the cast include two Anaheim residents: Jack Trott, 10352 Varna St., and Gerald Enzenauer, 1418 Florida Pl., who play the part of soilers. Mrs. Rea instructed members in the art of making Kleenex carnation flowers to be used in the float being prepared for the Anaheim Halloween Parade by the four chapters: Chi Pi, Upsilon Omicron, Tau and Xi Eta. Mrs. Andrew Menefee, a new AHS Class of '21 To Hold Reunion Members of the reunion committee for the 1921 graduating class of Anaheim High School are interested in learning the whereabouts of several graduates for the purpose of inviting them to the banquet reunion to be held Nov. 21 at the Royal Hawaiian Restaurant. The missing grads are Evada Bacon, Jack Jackson, George Owen, Eva Stevenson and Isabel Strutt. Mrs. Signa Hatfield, president, presided for the evening. Most of the business of the group was dispensed with, however, Billie Snow reported Raymond Memorial Cancer Research Fund of $36.45. This fund was started in memory of a departed member. The program was presented by the Career Advancement committee, Helen Sharp the chairman, with Evah Drennon, Eloise Gibson and Marjorie Pibel committee members. Mrs. Urho Jurva, president, introduced the new principal, Chester Fowler, who gave a welcoming talk and introduced Mrs. Lee Gorow, secretary, and the following teachers; Mrs. Steven Bartlett, Miss Veronica Colgan, Miss Gertrude Andersen, Miss Aletha Macy, Miss Mary Caulk, Miss Tinnie Tiger, Ivan Wong and Charles Hopper. Other special guests were Mrs. Frances Mack and Mrs. Gale Cleveland, former Washington teachers. Honor Den of Cub Pack led the salute to the flag. Ray Hickman, institutional scout representative, spoke to the group about Cub Scout activities and asked any interested boys to contact him. Chairmen featured for the evening were Mrs. Verne Kannlanen, dinner chairman, Mrs. Elmer Bradford, hospitality chairman and Mrs. John Mathew, membership chairman. The room was decorated with posters made by each of the classes depicting the membership drive slogan "Rocket to the Moon." Mrs. Matthew announced that arrangements of white gladioli banked the altars of St. Justin Martyr Church for the nuptial ceremony uniting Sylvia Joy Stinson of Anaheim and Richard Louis Mendt of Los Angeles. The Rev. J. O'Neil performed the double ring rites. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Stinson of 9111 Stinson St., Anaheim, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wendt of West Los Angeles. Given in marriage by her father, the bride entered the church wearing traditional white fashioned of Chantilly lace over knife-pleated tulle. The bouffant ballerina-length skirt flowed from a fitted bodice featuring a Sabrina neckline and three-quarter sleeves. Her finger-tip French illusion veil was held to her hair with a small white satin crown edged in seed pearls. She wore a single strand of pearls, a gift of the gridegroom, and carried a cascade bouquet of stephanotis centered with a large white orchid. Mrs. Allen Parker of Torrance was matron of honor. Her gown was of toast and blue brocaded taffeta and she wore it a pale blue feathered headpiece fashioned with short veil. She carried a cascade of toast baby mums. William Wisher of Anaheim served as best man, while Hapry Stinson, a brother of the bride, and Lenoard Dene of Anaheim ushered. Mrs. A. Hager was organist and accompanied Charlie Swartzel who sang "Ave Maria," "Adorote Devote," "Panther Angelicus" and other nuptial selections. Following the service a reception for 75 was held at Capilla de San Antonio where large tables and lawn umbrellas were arranged in the upper gardens. Later the new Mrs. Wendt changed to a navy blue shantung sheath dress with matching accessories and the couple left for a honeymoon trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The bride is associated with the Stinson Construction Company as office manager in Anaheim. Mrs. H· Kellogg Is Birthday Honoree Mrs. Helen Kellog Aubin of Santa Ana, mother of L. Frank Kellogg, who is principal of Anaheim High School, was honored on her 87th birthday with a family dinner party given at the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Kellogg. Following the dinner, the honored guests were entertained at the home of Mrs. Sibyl V. Mauerhan of Garden Grove, another daughter, where she opened her many gifts, including a recently published cookbook compiled by Mrs. Mauerhan. The guest of honor was graduated as a teacher from the University of North Dakota in 1893. She was married to B Clay Kellogg shortly after arrived to Santa Ana where he husband was city engineer. She is a member of several fraternal organizations and 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
