Governor Brown Proclaims PTA Membership Week
Governor Edmund G. Brown has designated Oct. 4-10 Parent-Teacher Membership Week. The chief executive expresses his faith in the California Congress of Parents and Teachers as "a tireless champion of better education for the State's young people."
The proclamation reads, in part, "Your local P.T.A. needs and deserves the membership of parents of all California school students. The organization, now beginning its 60th year in the State, offers parents many unique opportunities to help themselves, their schools and their communities. P.T.A. activities range from carnivals on Halloween to legislation for protection of children's welfare. They include school betterment projects, classes in parent education, scholastic encouragement through scholarships and loans and support for school facilities expansion."
Mrs. J. Frank Snowden of Alhambra, State president joins Mrs. James C. Parker of Grand Rapids, Michigan, National president, in proclaiming October as membership enrollment month. "Not only must we maintain our present membership; we must continue to expand, so that we may open still greater vistas of community service on behalf of children and youth," state the P.T.A. leaders.

This is the one that says '60 like no other car. From its clean deck, there's so much that is new and different about this seat from the rest like a fresh-minted coin. And you'll be just as relaxing roominess, tasteful trim, hushed elegance, all comfort at all four wheels. Yet, sumptuous as this new Chevy is, you'll find dependability, new longer life. Here, then, we're confident both agree, is the nearest to perfection a low-priced
Here's the car that introduces a whole new decade of design—with so much that's new and different the other ones can only hope to come close.
It's the superlative '60 Chevrolet—with new space inside, new spirit under the hood, new splendor in every clean-etched line.
Freshly shaped contours rake back from the unified new grille to the jaunty rear deck, fitted with craftsmanship you'd expect only on the most expensive makes. Inside, there's room to sprawl in, room to sit tall in generously provided by Chevy's sofa-wide seats and extra margin of hat space. And there's even more leg room for the man in the middle—thanks to the way Chevrolet engineers have shaved down the transmission tunnel.
Out on the road, as Chevy's Full Coil ride will persuade you most gently, there's not a car near the price that comes close to the hushed comfort of this one. And, adding to your sense of silence and solidity are thicker, newly designed rubber body mounts that do an even more efficient job of filtering out road shock, tire hum and vibration.
Chevy's accommodations tend back to its load (and free luggage compartment). You'll also find a new parking brake matically returns height after apical new clutch linkage.
See your local authorized Chevy!
