MWD Gives Tax Reduction Here
A reduction in the tax rate of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California which includes Anaheim for the coming year was authorized. It will be the ninth time the District has cut its tax rate in the past ten years.
The decision to slash the tax rate was made by the District's Board of Directors when it voted to cut the present rate of 18c to a new low of 17c for the year 1959-60. The move to reduce the rate was made on the recommendation of the Board's Finance Committee headed by Hugh W. Stiles and by Controller George M. Carroll.
NEW OWNER—Purchase of 97 percent of the stock of the Keystone Savings and Loan Association of Anaheim and the Anaheim Escrow Company by Ronald W. The purchase price exceeded $1,100,000, it was announced by James L. Morris, president of Keystone Savings. Assets of the savings institution which opened business in December 1957 are currently listed as over $3,000,000. Caspers, who has been associated with Mutual Savings of Pasadena for the past six years as assistant vice president in charge of advertising and public relations, has resigned his post in order to take over the Orange County Savings Association.
