NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS FOR PURCHASING ALL PLANT, LABOR, SERVICE, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT AND PERFORMING ALL WORK NEEDS, CONTAINING CONTRACT AND COMPLETION WITH THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM OR CONTRIBUTORY PUBLIC IMPROvement OR WORK. THE IMPROvement OF SANTA ANA STREET FROM OLIVE STREET TO LOS ANGELES STREET JOB NO. 472.
NOTICE IS REQUEST GIVEN that sealed proposals will be received by the City of Anaheim at the office of the City Clerk on the hour of 2:06 o'clock p.m. on the 10th day of September, 1895, and will be opened on the same day in public in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Anaheim, State of California, by the City Clerk and the City Engineer, for furnishing the following:
All plant, labor, services materials and equipment, and all utilities required for transportation including power, fuel and water, and performing all work necessary to construct and complete a good and workmanlike manner, in strict accordance with the specifications, plans and drawings therefor on file in the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim for the following public improvement, to wit:
The Improvement of Santa Ana Street, from Olive Street to Los Angeles Street, by excavation, paving with 6-inch plantmix surfacing, and appurtenant work as indicated on the plans. Job No. 472 and shall be tabulated by the City Engineer and the result thereof to the City Council at its next regular or adjourned meeting for action thereon by said City Council.
PURRUANT to the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has ascertained the general present in the locality in which this type of work is performed for each type of worker needed to execute this contract. The hourly wage scale is ascertained as follows:

Apprentices may be employed in conformity with Section 1771.5 of the California Lake Deck Rules.
The rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be the hereinafter set forth prevailing rates of hourly wages multiplied by eight. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work, it being understood that in the event that workers are approved less than eight hours per day the per diem wage shall be that fraction of the per diem wage herein established that the number of hours of employment bears to eight hours.
The overtime rule establishing the rates of overtime and holiday work shall be according to the schedule shown in work. When working short is worked, eight hours of continuous employment except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any one day or during the interval of time from 5:00 o'clock p.m. to midnight Saturday such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of double the basic rate of wages, except as otherwise provided in the May, 1953 revision of the A.G.C., B.C.A., H.B.I., E.G.C.A., A.P.L.-C.I.O., Southern California Market Labor Agreement.
Holidays herein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day. If any of the above mentioned holidays other than Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day falls on Sunday, this holiday shall be considered a legal holiday.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates of wages to all laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execution of their contract.
Each bid shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City Anaheim and shall be accompanied by a certified cashier's check or bid bond for ten (10) per cent of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Engineer. Sealed proposals should be submitted in sealed hand corner "Sealed for construction of THE IMPROvement OF SANTA-ANA STREET FROM OLIVE STREET TO LOS ANGELES STREET JOBS NO. 472.

All foremen, unless separately classified, shall be paid as provided in
SEAT COVER CLEARANCE
FORM to be obtained at the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim and shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or bid bond for the bill made payable to the City of Anaheim, and shall be sealed and delivered to the City Clerk at the City Hall of the City of Anaheim before 2:00 o'clock p.m. on the 15th day of September, 1959, at which time sealed proposals will be marked in the upper left hand corner "Sealed for construction of THE IMPROVEMENT OF SANTANA STREET FROM OLIVE STREET LOOKING ANGELS STREET JOB NO. 473." together with the name and address of the bidder. The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract, if awarded to him, and will be declared forfeited if the contract is after being requested to do so by the City of Anaheim.
Such contract shall be entered into within fifteen (15) days after receipt by said contractor of notice of the awarding of the contract, unless such time is extended by the City of Anaheim.
Each bid must specify the name and location of the mill, shop of Office of each subcontractor who will perform work or labor or render services to the contractor in or about the construction of the work or improvement and the portion of the work will be done by each subcontractor.
If any bid submitted fails to specify a subcontractor, as before said, the contractor submitting such bid agrees to perform the work himself.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price and a labor and material bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, said bonds to be secured from a surety or bonding company satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Anaheim and shall be approved by the City Attorney and sufficiency before acceptance.
Plans and specifications may be obtained from the City Engineer or the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim at the City Hall, Anaheim, California for the sum of five dollars (45.00), placed in a said office, or the sum of six dollars (66.00) if forwarded by mail.

A reception for 200 guests was held in the church hall following the double ring rites. The Women's Fellowship, led by Mrs. Phil Small, served. Mrs. Clair Munsell, cousin of the bride, circulated the guest book.
The bride and her new husband toured the coast of Northern California before coming back to settle in Anaheim.
Contractors Slate Ladies Night Luau
A Hawaiian luau is planned for Sept. 5 for the annual summer Ladies Night of the Orange Chapter of the Building Contractors Association, it was announced today by Larry Wedin, president.
The Royal Hawaiian in Anaheim has been chosen for this event which will begin at 6 p.m. This will be a costume affair with an Hawaiian theme. The program includes dancing, a diving show, swimming, and a special Hawaiian show.
This event is the social highlight of the year for the Building Contractors Association with approximately 150 people anticipated to attend comprised of members, their wives, and guests.
