Bureau (Continued from Page A-1) vestigate the crime scene for evidence figures into the end result. CAN INVESTIGATE The I.D. technicians can investigate the crime scene for evidence and also make a chemical analysis of it on return to the department. One of the major jobs of the technicians is the determination of latent fingerprints which figure in almost every burglary. Another job of the I.D. Bureau is to determine the identity of persons who are not recognizable following an accident or disaster. The local men were given the job of determining the identity of the four people burned to death earlier this year in a crash on the Santa Ana Freeway here. Another major job was the analysis of the shotgun ascertained as the weapon used in the Simpson case. This was the murder of an Anaheim nightclub owner and the wounding of his wife. The weapon was found earlier this year by city employees in a storm drain. EXAMPLE OF WORK As an example of how the bureau keeps busy, here's a breakdown of pictures taken for the month of July: 80 prisoners; 166 civilian; 50 outside field assignments; 292 negatives; 584 contact prints; 346 other-size prints; 72 photostat checks. In every check case the I.D. bureau figures heavily in determination and collection of evidence.
