SMOKEY THE BEAR'S HELPERS — Smokey Junior (right), who lives in Orange County with State Forest Ranger and Orange County Fire Warden Joseph A. Scherman (left), at the Forestry Division's headquarters, 1212 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, are Smokey's full time helpers in "keeping Orange County green and golden." Here they discuss milk container Excelsior Creamery designed to aid them in getting their fire prevention message across to all Orange Countians this month. Each carton reads, "Remember Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires." Area Students Make Dean Lists On U.C. Campus Five students who transferred to branches of the University of California after completing their work at Fullerton Junior College have been named to the Dean's Honor List for outstanding academic achievement during the past spring semester, according to word received today by FJC Director H. Lynn Sheller. Former FJC students who are named to the Dean's Honor List at UCLA are John Edward Rhone and Harry Buddy Flach who entered UCLA in the Fall of 1957, and Donald Alfred Jacobson who entered in the Fall of 1958. Named on the Dean's Honor List at the University of California at Riverside are Kay Allison Bratsch and Patricia Jane Hursh. This is the second time Miss Bratsch has earned the distinction of being named on the Dean's Honor List, according to the announcement. Records for the Fall Semester of 1958-59 on 141 students who transferred from FJC Long Beach State College, California State Polytechnic College, University of Southern California, San Diego State College, Fresno State College, and an Francisco State College showed an overall grade point average of 2.187 according to Dr. heller, with a performance of better than "C" in each institution. FOR BEST RESULTS TRY ... Glazed ... Bits LEM WINCHESTER and the Ramsey Lewis Trio "Perform a Tribute to Clifford Brown" (Argo)—a fitting memorial to the late 25-year-old jazz trumpeter ... "ESQUIVEL EXPLORING New Sounds in Stereo" (RCA Victor) is an original and imaginative all-embracing album. "SHOW STOPPERS from the Fabulous Fifties" (Mercury) by David Carroll and orchestra offer new audio nuances and musical inneuhoes ... "MOODYS MOOD FOR LOVE" (Argo) is a remarkable performance by James Moody, outstanding jazz flutist. "AFTER SCHOOL SESSION" (Chess) with Chuck Berry is an album of originals by this top guitarist and rock-a-billy troubador ... JANICE HARPER sings "With Feeling" (Capitol) reveals warmth of this gal's appeal in her album debut. "FIRKUSNY P LA Y S BRAHMS" (Capitol) is a masterful performance by this superb pianist of international reputation ... "SOUTH OF THE BORDER by the Stargazers (London) is some of the best Latin music we've heard at any point of the compass. "A NIGHT AT THE OPERA" (Mercury) offers instrumental selections from 10 immortal operas by Walberg and his orchestra ... HERBERT VON KARAJAN is the magic name as he conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra playing the breathtaking music found in "Beethoven: Symphony No.9 and Symphony No.8" (Angel) coupled with other magicians in Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Margal Hoffgen, Ernest Hafliger and the Otto Edelmann Chorus. "Kodaly: Psalmus Hungaricus Op. 13" and "Martok: Dance Suite" is the double-barreled musical thrill on an Everest Hi-F-album. This is the true folk music of Hungary.
