DEATH CAR — James Harrison Shoemaker died as a result of this accident at East and Turin last week. He became the city's 12th traffic fatality for the year. He resided at 507 S. East, Anaheim.

Area Supervisor Acts as Moderator At Natl. Confab
Bill Phillips, Orange County Supervisor who represents the Anaheim area, and a leading authority on County Planning- at the Development, left Friday, July 24, to act as moderator at the National Association of County Officials in Detroit, Michigan July 25 through 29.
More than 2,000 elected and appointed policy making county officials and their wives from his work in developing and planning of Orange County, will moderate a panel leading industrial, labor and government officials. Serving on the panel will be George Romney, President of American Motors; Walter Reuther, President of United Auto Workers; John D. Rockefeller and Governor William G. Stratten of Illinois.
The Panel Discussion on "Business and Commercial Development" will be the highlight of the week long meeting. Supervisor Phillips will give the keynote address of the Panel Discussion, pointing out the counties interest in this problem and highlighting some of the questions that will be in the minds of the 2,000 county officials.

Park Department Sponsors Ninth Annual All City Track Meet at Park
The Anaheim Park and Recreation Department's 9th Annual All-City Track Meet will take place at La Palma Park August 6. The field events will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by the running events at 7 p.m.
One of the outstanding events of the evening will be the Marathon which will be run through the streets of Anaheim. The course is approximately three and one-half miles long. This event is open to all residents of the Anaheim High School District. A large sign-up is expected and deadline for registration for the Marathon is July 31 and ten of Illinois.
The Panel Discussion on "Business and Commercial Development" will be the highlight of the week long meeting. Stanford Research Institute's recent report on the Economical and Population growth of Orange County has focused the spotlight on the area. Supervisor Phillips, and the board of supervisors, have gained national prominence for their forward planning and development of Orange County.
The running and field events are open to all boys between the ages of 6-16. Tryouts will be held at the following playgrounds: Lincoln Park, Adelaide Price, City Park, Clara Barton, Cypress Park, Dr. Jonas Salk, Peter Marshall, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, Palm Lane, John Marshall, Mattie Lou Maxwell, Savanna, Western and Los Alamitos. Check tryout dates at the playground nearest you.
