Kathy Purtha of 10251 MacDuff St., Anaheim, was one of 25 fourth place winners in the Fifth Annual Table Setting Contest sponsored by Lenox, Inc., Trenton, N. J. held recently.
She was awarded two place settings of Lenox china in "Caribee" the pattern used in her entry. Lenox is famous for making the official china for the White House since the first set was ordered by President Woodrow Wilson in 1917.
Home Economics authorities consider winning a prize in this national contest an outstanding achievement because of the thousands of high school and college girls throughout the country who produced it.
Mrs. M. J. Anderson of Garden Grove's Rancho Alamitos High School, instructor in home economics, submitted the entry and was awarded a prize of Lenox china.
Student entrants, high school and college girls, registered in Home Economics courses, were asked to create an original table setting on contest forms provided by Lenox. Each girl selected a theme, chose the occasion for which to create her setting and by coordinating china, silver, glass and accessories, produced an original table setting.
The contest was judged by a group of prominent personalities who are recognized as outstanding in their respective fields. The judges in this year's contest were: Mrs. Hody Backlin, numbler of
