Anaheim Elementary Summer Session
Summer school will continue through Friday, July 31, for approximately 360 children in the Anaheim Elementary School District. The children will attend classes from 8:00 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.
Twelve well qualified teachers have been selected from the Anaheim Elementary staff to work under the leadership of James Abrecht, principal of Lorara School. They will be teaching a course of study that has been designed to strengthen the childrens' basic skills.
The entire emphasis will be on the fundamental processes. Individual instruction of a remedial nature will be given in phonics, word attack and comprehension in the field of reading. Stress will be given to the mechanics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and a practical approach to using these processes in problem solving. Written composition will help reinforce spelling, writing and language along with drill in these subjects.
Children who will attend the summer school have been selected on the basis of their needs to im-

Anaheim Attends Workshop Hosted By Centralia
Orange County's second annual Classified Workshop recently drew literally hundreds of men and women to the all-day meeting hosted by Centralia School district.
Early in the morning, school buses, station wagons and private cars poured into the parking near the Wagon Camp at Knott's Berkley Farm wheeer the general session was held. The crowd of nearly 1000 filled seats in the ample theater and wagons in the ring.
Palmer G. Campen, general chairman, introduced Glen H. Dysinger, Sr., superintendent, Centralia School district, and Walter Knott, Superintendent Dysinger, introduced Linton T. Simmons county superintendent of schools all of whom spoke a word or greeting. Also presented to the audience were Frank A. Grunenfelder and Ernest R. Norton from the county schools' office. Camper is assistant superintendent in charge of business in Centralia School district.
Main Speaker
Principal speaker at the general session was Dr. J. C. Fikes, speech instructor at Santa Ana college and consulting psychologist and counselor working in remedial speech at Fitz school in Garden Grove and for the Cypress School district.
Dr. Fikes spoke on "Public relations in our schools." He named affection, loyalty and goodwill as ingredients for successful working with the public.
Once in awhile an individual comes along who gives a gift or goodwill without a desire to receive in return, he opined.

Hallamore Wins $250,000 Contract
Hallamore Electronics Division
of The Siegler Corporation has received an equipment development contract award totaling more than $250,000 from Hughes Aircraft Co., according to John G. Brooks, Siegler president. The company is located in Anaheim.
A complex radio frequency signal generator, the new equipment is being designed and produced for use on production lines of a Hughes classified advanced air-to-air guided missile. Signals generated in the unit will test the target-seeking radar "brain" and the responses of external control surfaces, Brooks said.
In practice, assembly line technicians will simulate a variety of flight patterns of approaching aircraft, he added.
"With manually-operated selectivity controls, the operator of the test unit can even simulate defensive maneuvers of an enemy aircraft. Such tests during assembly-of the weapon provide additional assurance that if and when needed the control system will work perfectly to put the defensive rocket on a collision course with the enemy," Brooks said.
During the transmission of these radio frequency test signals, the rocket's radar system locks on to the "target" and actuates con-
