Gail Elizabeth Mullen Becomes Bride of Frederick E. Barnett in Garden Grove
Gail Elizabeth Mullen of Garden Grove became the bride of Frederick E. Barnett of Anaheim in an afternoon ceremony performed at St. Columban's Church in Garden Grove by the Rev. Michael Murphy.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Mullen of 11531 College Ave., Garden Grove, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin T. Barnett of 2102 Crone Ave., Anaheim.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose white organza in a ballerina length for her wedding dress. She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with a white orchid.
Miss Betty Kiepler of Garden Grove served as maid of honor and Alfred J. Urbano of Anaheim was best man. The church was decorated with white gladioli for the double ring rites witnessed by the immediate families.
A reception at the Lancers Restaurant followed the service.
The bride is a graduate of Garden Grove schools and Long Beach State College. Her husband is a product of Julliard School of Music. He is now serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Lackland Air Base, Texas.
After a honeymoon trip to Corpus Christi, the newlyweds will make their home in San Antonio, Tex.
Philomela Toastmistresses Seat New Officers at Installation
Mrs. Daniel Halliday of Anaheim was installed as president of the Philomela Toastmistress Club Thursday, succeeding Mrs. Robert C. Morgan, of Fullerton.
Mrs. Halliday took office in an impressive ceremony conducted by Mrs. Earline Payne of Long Beach. Mrs. Payne placed a wood-fibre lei around the shoulders of each officer while charging them with their duties.
Serving with Mrs. Halliday will of Hawaiian culture, chose for her theme "ua mau maka maka na hale", or: "together we build."
In her acceptance speech she stressed the need for individual progress through practice in self-expression. She stated,
"Only through developing each member's full potential can the International Toastmistress organization hope to keep pace with the fast-moving world. More and more we need women who can ex-

Hawaiian theme was carried out in decorations with a tropical fruit and flower arrangement in a large, round rice tray at the head table. Hibiscus blooms, gardenias, and tiny pineapples added color to the other tables.

Auxiliary Slates Luau for July 11
A Hawaiian Luau, complete with Polynesian menu and decorations and followed by dancing, is being planned by members of the Anaheim Chapter 1401 of the National Association of Letter Carriers Ladies' Auxiliary.
The affair will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sisson, 8082 Ventura, July 11 at 7:30 p.m., according to Mrs. Joe Lallemont, president, and Mrs. Lee Stracner, chairman of the entertainment committee.
The NALC members have begun their Christmas project for needy families, the outfitting of two 18-inch dolls to be displayed in store windows early in September.
The dolls will have complete wardrobes from bridal costumes and formales down to play clothes, hula skirts and raincoats. Mrs. Dick Johnson is chairman, assisted by Mrs. Sisson.
Mrs. Johnson also has reported that the Orange County School for Handicapped Children welcomed the material for the children to color which was delivered recently. The school is the group's favorite charity and members keep the children supplied with plenty of material.

Guest speaker for the occasion was George F. Kaufmes, of Toastmasters Club No. 1201. His talk "The Birth of a Jet" was the story of the DC-8, and was accompanied by a movie covering the planning, the construction, and the first flight of this beautiful jet plane. He was introduced by Mrs. John Pherigo, Toastmistress for the evening.
A novel table-topics session was headed by Miss Ethel Ruth Gibbony. She asked her speakers for pro and con arguments on "Resolved—Hawaii should be admitted as the 50th state."
Welcomed as new club members were Mrs. Wesley Hickman, and Miss Aileen Hodgson. There are still some membership openings in Philomela, and Mrs. Halliday extends a cordial invitation to women of this area to visit the club to see for themselves just what Toastmistress is. Arrangements to attend a meeting may be made by calling her at JA 7-5312, or Mrs. Pherigo at LA 5-7717.

Mrs. Mary Gove was installed as president of the Soroptimist Club of Anaheim at an installation dinner-dance at the Los Coyotes Country Club.
Mrs. Gove, owner of the Gove Personal Agency, has been very active in civic affairs since coming to Anaheim three years ago from Huntington Park. She is President of the Anaheim Youth Employment Service, is a member of the Ambassadors of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the Anaheim Area Coordinating Council.
Mrs. Mildred Allen, immediate past-president, was in charge of the installation arrangements. The theme was "The Space Age." Dr. Elizabeth Smith Wright, past president of the Soroptimist Club of Huntington Park, former Pa-cific Regional Extension Chief man of the Soroptimist Federation of the Americas was install- officer.

Cub Pack 128 Holds Graduation Ceremony at Knotts Berry Farm
Cub Pack 128 recently held a combined Pack meeting and Graduation Ceremony for Webelos at Knotts Berry Farm in the Wagon Camp. Directing the meeting was Cub Master Gene Betchelder with assistance from Fred Seidenspinner and Osapana. Chief of Indians at the farm.
After songs by the group and a short skit by Den 10, awards were made to the following boys and presented by the Cub Master and Bill Sima, awards chairman: Wolf Badges, Michael Le may, Ray Gardian; Gold Arrow Wolf Rank; Ray Gardian, Silver Arrow, Walf Rank; Stephen Murray Patrick Pyne, Ray Gardian and Douglas Edwards; Bear Badge John Pyne; Gold Arrow Bear Rank, John Pyne, Thomas Harring; Denner Badge, Robert Barkman, Jimmy Piper, Donald Graig; Ass't Denner Badge, Michael Alberich, Gary Neal; Den Chief Shoulder Cord, Richard Ridenour (Boy Scout of Troop 19) one year Star for Den Chief, Larry Lippold, Troop 19.
The following boys receive Graduation Certificates for Cub Scout Graduation: Joseph Alberich, Gary Gardner, Gerald Marshfield, Ronald Schwaner, Jerry and Terry Strauser, and Joe Tillacock.
In an impressive ceremony held by Osapana, Webelos graduated into Scout rank. Joseph Alberich, Gary Gardner, Gerald Mansfiel, Ronald Schwaner and Joe Tillacock received the Webelos Badge as a Scout knife which was a present from the Pack. The brothers received a Webelos Badge who is a Powhatan Indian, and his wife, gave a lecture and danced They sang songs of early Indian life, showed head dress tom-toms and clothes which were displayed and worn at the corresponding to the lectures. Also gave a pipe ceremony outgoing Webelos and blessing to Boy Scouting.
The opening ceremony was by Den Chiefs with Larry Lippold leading and the closing ceremony was led by Osapana after every one sang "God Blesss America."
VFW Members Hear Reports at Meet
Ladies Auxiliary 3173 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars sent a donation to the City of Hope. It was reported at a recent meeting of the group. Florence Carrol, chairman of the cancer fund, made the report.
Other committee members gave reports among them Adeline Schroeder, chairman of National Home, who reported on the recent rummage sale.
Elizabeth Aldrich presided over the short meeting and Opal Walters read communications.
Refreshments were served by Grace Dierberger and Ann Stake.
Pvt. Francis Kripps, son of Mrs. Francis H.' Kripps 1035 Lomita St., Anaheim, completed his basic training Brook Army Hospital in Te and is now stationed at Schoffel.
ANO SOLOIST—Airman Second Class Helen Edmish of Los Angeles is pianist with the United States Air Force WAF Band which will appear at the Greek Theaena at Anaheim City Park July 10 sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department. During her high school years, Helen won a California State Champion in her solo work. She is a veteran of one year in the Air Force and is looking forward to her first overseas tour.
Janne Mickelson Named to Post Annual Girls State Elections
Janne Mickelson of Anaheim appointed head of the Departments of Health for Girls State 16th Annual California-Girls elections.
Sponsored by the American LeAuxiliary, officers of 12 local California cities and mythical counties were elected by 421 Girls State citizens at meeting on the University of California campus at Davis last state brings together the standing girls in the junior from high schools through the state. In a practical preparation for adult citizenship, Girls gatherings encompass repatriates from small and large cities, and from rural and metropolitan areas. The "citizens" up platforms for mythicales and campaign to electers to city, county and state offices.

Progressive Dinner Set by BPW Group
Plans were completed for a Progressive Dinner on July 11 when members of the Anaheim Business and Professional Women's Club met last week at the courtesy rooms of Home Savings and Loan Co.
High point in the business meeting was the establishment of an Auddie Raymond Memorial Fund for Cancer Research. Mrs. Raymond had been a member of the local organization for a number of years and passed away several months ago from cancer.
Election of new members were Florence Temple, Alma Clara Malher, Bertha Rosen, Joy Brown and Isabel Arpke.
The entertainment for the meeting was a demonstration and explanation of the Relax-A-cizor by Jean Hargis, and her assistant from Long Beach.
The regular monthly board meeting is Wednesday evening. July 1, at the Wonderbowl and the regular meeting will be held on July 22.
Cub Scouts Attend Dodger Game in LA
Fifty-one cheering boys of Cub Pack 128 of Palm Lane School cheered the Dodgers to victory at the Coliseum recently. Accompanied by three Den mothers and 12 fathers (consisting of committeemen, cubmaster and fathers of boys) the boys were guests of the Knot Hole Gang for the Dodgers.
Arriving two hours early the boys got excellent seats and then watched both the Dodgers and the Cincinnati teams warm up.
Anaheim Residents To Be in Musical
Gil Silvius and Nancy Sawyers of Anaheim have featured roles in the Long Beach Civic Light Opera production of "The Pajama Game" to be presented July 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11 at Long Beach City College Auditorium.
Silvius will play Mr. Hasler and Miss Sawyers will portray Poopsie. Others from Orange County in the cast are Betty Tesman of Fullerton as Babe, Ricky Harris of Lido Isle as Gladys and Hal Mecham of Laguna Beach as Prez.
This light-hearted frollic of a musical play has already taken its place as a popular favorite of the theatre - going public. It abounds in everything that is delightful in musical comedy, including a musical score that is replete with such hits as "Hey There," "Hernando's Hideaway", "Steam Heat", and "I'm Not At All In Love."
