Anaheim Resident Helping Teach Industrial Course
A first in Orange County is being established at Ground Systems, Hughes Aircraft Company, by 49 plant protection officers, and firemen enrolled on their own time in an American Red Cross first aid course, Red Cross officials reported. It is being taught by an Anaheim man.
Mrs. Lyn Williams, executive director of the Northern Orange County Red Cross chapter, said it is the first program of its kind among industries of the area.
"We are very proud of Hughes for participating in this program and we hope it will spread to other industries," said Mrs. Williams.
Course Places
The course places particular emphasis on preparing for emergency first aid situations which would be peculiar to a specific building or area of the plant.
The course was offered as a result of a recommendation by a Ground Systems Emergency Planning Committee.
The eight-week course is being taught by Security Policeman Glen Brewer, 328 N. Rose St., Anaheim, and Fireman Frank Verage. Both trained for the assignment.
