Rowland Takes Over as New Supervisor at Swim School William F. "Rick" Rowland today has been named supervisor of aquatics for the Sammy Lee Swimming and Diving Schools, Inc., of Anaheim. A former All-American swimmer for the University of Oklahoma, Rowland currently is swimming and water polo coach at Garden Grove High School in addition to his duties with Lee Schools. Rowland steps into his new position as supervisor of aquatics after 14 months of service as chief instructor and swimming team coach for the Lee Schools. New Post The new position was created by the board of directors as part of an overall expansion of the school's operation. Rowland will assume some of the duties previously handled by Ralph Longbootham, Jr., and Bob Rechtwig, co-directors of the school. The co-directors will now assume new duties attendant to the schools acquisition of new facilities, according to Sammy Lee, president of the corporation. The Sammy Lee organization, in just 15 months of operation, has expanded its facilities at 2511 W. Lincoln Ave., Anaheim, from two and a half acres into a 10-acre facility which includes two heated swimming pools, a coffee shop, 10,000 square-foot recreation area, putting green and golf driving range. Breakdowns go out of style the day your Chevy goes into action. The fact is, Chevrolet trucks are dead set on dropping the word "downtime" right out of the English language. And they just might, if precision engineering and top-quality materials have anything to say about it. Chevy trucks are put together to stay together—incorporating the most advanced chassis developments, the most efficient 6-cylinder and V8 engine designs. They're built to last, built to keep Chevrolet's hard-earned reputation for reliability flying high. Going into the real heart of Chevrolet advantages is where your dealer comes in. Los Angeles Street ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA West Anaheim Moves for Top Spot in League By STEVE HUDSON West Anaheim moved into strong contention for the top spot in the Orange County American Legion flag race Sunday, knocking off third ranking Fullerton 6-5 in an AL crucial at La Palma Park. West Anaheim starter Dave Toby got off to a rocky start as he gave up on runs on five hits in the first three innings. Tobey was replaced by John Huarte in the third when Fullertons Roger Pembroke tattooed a lime drive that caught Tobey square on the noggin and caromed into left field for a double. He was rushed to the hospital where examination revealed that no injury had been inflicted and treatment was not required. The Anaheimers countered with tallies in the first and third stanzas to tie the contest at five all.
