Oppose More Tax Before Budget Bill Approved
Orange County's Republican state legislators, Senator John A. Murdy, Jr., and Assemblyman Bruce Sumner, were commended this week by the Orange County Republican Central Committee for "courageously opposing the enactment of any tax legislation in the current session of the Legislature prior to approving the annual budget bill.
In dispatching a commendatory resolution to the legislators in Sacramento, the committee cited them "for their exemplary legislative efforts in accurately reflecting the concern of the people of Orange County for a balanced budget without higher taxes" and called on them to "continue to resist to the best of their abilities the incessant encroachment of irresponsible liberalism by the Democratic majority in the Legislature."
The resolution further pointed out that in striking contrast to Seantor Murdy's eloquent defense of their position of fiscal responsibility in the legislative halls of the State Capitol, the Democratic Assemblyman from Orange County has already voted "Aye" on increased taxes for personal in-
The resolution further pointed out that in striking contrast to Seantor Murdy's eloquent defense of their position of fiscal responsibility in the legislative halls of the State Capitol, the Democratic Assemblyman from Orange County has already voted "Aye" on increased taxes for personal incomes, inheritances and horse racing, as well as new taxes on cigarettes and tobacco.

MISSES GOOD TIMES AT NEW PLANT JOB
Gary Harris, $837 W. Avenue 54, was thinking about his future one Sunday afternoon, and in four days he had done something about it. "I was experienced as a Personal Manager, but I was working on industrial surveys," he said. That afternoon I decided to look at the Help Wanted columns in the classified pages of The Los Angeles Times. I found the job I wanted right away, and in four days I was hired out of 50 applicants as Personnel Manager of a plant in France. But there's one thing I'm going to miss up there, and that's The Times. I just hope I can find a place to live as easily as I found the job I wanted. Yet the Times Classified was sure handy to have around."
Here again is proof that whatever your needs, you'll find it easier, sell it quicker, through Times Classified 404. For Times Classified service, call Kimberly 3-8448. Illustrated Report on Orange County Now Available
"Orange County Has Everything" is the title of an 84-page illustrated report on the fastest-growing county in the nation.
Of interest to home-buyers and investors, the report shows new homes available all over the county, describes schools and colleges, shows fishing, golfing, boating and other recreational facilities — and asks editorially: "Where on Earth Can You Find All This!"
Published as the Special Homes Issue of Orange County Industrial News, monthly magazine, the report is now available at news-stands in leading food markets and drug stores—wherever magazines are sold — throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County, according to its publisher, W. Worth Bernard of Santa Ana.
Proclaim June Apprenticeship Month in Calif.
June has been proclaimed Apprenticeship Month in California, as Governor Edmund G. Brown and State and Federal apprentice-training specialists welcome this year’s high-school graduating class with news about careers in the trades.
Here in Orange County, James R. Warfel and Ralph A. Lepore, Apprenticeship Consultants of the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, California Department of Industrial Relations, said that detailed information on how to get started in a career as a technician or in the skilled trades was available at the local office of the Division of Apprenticeship Standards, 1623 W. 17th Street, Santa Ana, phone KI 3-3946.
Traditional System
“Apprenticeship is the traditional and centuries-old system of having a boy learn a trade while he is doing it,” said the Apprenticeship Consultants. “And the boy is earning a salary that increases with his skill. It’s the best possible way a young fellow can prepare himself for a career in the trades and crafts—whether he aims at being a carpenter, machinist, plumber, or any other trade.”
Face Labor Shortage
Warfel and Lepore said that high standards for registered apprenticeship programs are placed by joint management-apprenticeship committees. They emphasized that the chief responsibility for expanding such grams rested with industry, would have to step up the training of its own skilled people risk a serious future shortage qualified workers.
Thoughtful people everywhere in California are asked to especially alert for opportunities to help our young people stand the signposts on the road to apprenticeship training.
