SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — Marines Acting Sgt. Arnold R. Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Craig of 903 Nutwood, and Sgt. James Miller, Jr., of 1017 E. Center, all of Anaheim, took part in a desert war training exercise March 10-20, in the Southern California desert near the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base.
The exercise was designed to round out the Fifth Marine Regiment which has already taken them through amphibious, airphibious, mountain and snow survival training.

NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSals FOR FURNISHING ALL PLAIN MARINE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND PERFORMING ALL WORK NECESSARY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION AND COMPLETION WITHIN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY Clerk OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM OF THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT OR WORK: THE IMPROVEMENT OF SOUTH STREET FROM EAST STREET TO 347 FEET WEST OF ORANGE STREET, PROJECT NO. 67.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals will be received by the City of Anaheim at the office of the City Clerk up to the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M. on the 7th day of May, 1959, and will be opened on said date at the hour of 2:00 o'clock P.M., in public in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall, in the City of Anaheim, State of California, by the City Clerk and the City Engineer, for furnishing the following:
All plant, labor, services, materials and equipment, and all utilities and transportation, and all building and performing all work necessary to construct and complete in a good and workmanlike manner, in strict accordance with the specifications, plans, and drawings therefore.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the said specified rates of wages to all laborers, workers and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
Each bid shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim and shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or bid bond for ten (10%) per cent of the amount of the bid, made by the City of Anaheim, and shall be sealed and delivered to the City Clerk at the City Hall of the City of Anaheim before 2:00 o'clock P.M. on the 7th day of May, 1959, at which time sealed proposals will be opened in public by the City Clerk and the City Engineer. Sealed proposals shall be submitted in sealed envelopes and marked with the proposed construction of Project No. 67. The Improvement of South Street," together with the name and address of the bidder. The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract. If awarded to him, and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses to enter into said contract or being in violation of the awarding of the contract, unless such time is extended by the City of Anaheim.
Each bid must specify the name and location of the mill, shop or office of each subcontractor who will perform work or labor or render services to the contractor in or about the construction of the work in the position of the work which will be done by each subcontractor. If any bid submitted fails to specify a subcontractor as aforesaid, the contractor submitting such bid agrees to perform the work himself.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price and a labor and material bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. The bond should be secured from surety or bonding company satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Anaheim and shall be approved by the City Attorney as to form and sufficiency before acceptance.
Plans and specifications may be obtained from the City Engineer or the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim at the City Hall of Anaheim, Junction of Fifth Avenue (450) dollars if picked up at said offices, or the sum of Six (60.00) dollars if forwarded by mail.

Health and Welfare payments shall be made in accordance with the California Master Labor Law.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, sold bonds to be secured from a surety or bond company satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Anaheim and shall be approved by the City Attorney as to form and sufficiency before acceptance.

The successful bidder will be required to continuously maintain adequate protection of all his work and adjacent property from damage arising out of any one person; $300,000.00 on account of any one accident, and property damage insurance in an amount not less than $50,000.00, and public liability insurance in an amount not less than $50,000.00, and public liability insurance in an amount not less than $50,000.00 for injuries to any one person or any one accident, and property damage in an amount of $100,000.00.
Compensation and employer's liability insurance shall be maintained during the life of the contract covering all such workers or part of said work or any part of the work of said public improvement will be required to use only those manufactured articles, materials and supplies as have been manufactured since the Unite States statute allotment from articles/materials and supplies mined, produced or manufactured, as possible may be in the United States pursuant to the provisions of Sections 4300 to 4305, both inclusive of the Government Code of the State of California.
Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 4300 and 4331 of the Government code of the State of California and price, fitness for useful bidders and any contractors or contractors employed by him to do any part of the work on the above described public improvement shall be required to prefer supplies grown, manufactured or produced in the State of California.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a Non-collusion Affidavit, copies of which may be obtained from the City Clerk.
The successful bidder or bidder shall be required to enter into a contract with the City of Anaheim in the manner and form approved by the City Attorney of the City of Anaheim.
The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informality to the extent permitted by law, and reserves the further right to make an award to the lowest responsible bidder found and determined to prove that interest in the city is not extinct.

All foremen, unless separately classified, shall be paid as provided in the May 1958 revision of the A.G.C., B.C.A., H.B.I., E.G.C.A., A.F.L., C.O., Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Apprentices may be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the California Labor Code.
The rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be the hereinbefore set forth prevailing rates of hourly wages multiplied by eight. Eight hours shall constitute a day's work, it being understood that in the event that men are employed less than eight hours per day the per diem wage shall that fraction of the per diem wage herein established that the number of hours of employment bears to eight hours.
The overtime rule establishing the rates of overtime and holiday work shall be in accordance with the following: Where a shift is worked, eight hours of continuous employment, except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours in any one day or during the interval of time from 6:00 P.M. Friday and 12:00 o'clock midnight Saturday, such work shall be paid for at a minimum rate of pence half times the basic rate of wages and on Sundays such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of dollars the basic rate of wages, except as otherwise provided in the May-1958 revision of the A.G.C., B.C.A., H.B.I., E.G.C.A., A.F.L., C.O., Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Holidays as herein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Lunches Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. If any of the above mentioned holidays other than Labor Day on Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a legal holiday.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AND OLLOWS WHEREAS The City Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim did heretofore duty, pass and adopt a resolution declaring its intention to change the boundaries of the zone or zones hereafter mentioned and described and holding of a public hearing therein in the manner and as prescribed in Article IX, Chapter 3 of the Anaheim Municipal Code and did hold and conduct said public hearing to consider such proposed change of zone or zones, and did receive public reports from interested therein, and did recommend a change or changes of zone as set forth in Resolution No. 150 Series 1958-59 of the City Planning Commission; and
WHEREAL upon receipt of the report and recommendation of the Public Accounts Committee, the City Council did fix the 17th day of February, 1958, as the time, and the Council Chamber in the City Hall of the City of Anaheim as the place, for a public hearing upon said proposed change or changes of zone, and did give notice thereof in the manner and
SECTION 2. The City Zoning Map shall certify that the owner submits city tax from the sum of $2.00 per meter street lighting purposes. That there shall be estimated below the height of to be erected at the rear of city.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify that the same to be priced within fifteen (18) days adoption. In the Anaheim Municipal Paper of general printed, published, and circulated said City, and thirty (30) days after its final passage to township municipal map to township City Zoning map and approved and signed by 14th day of April, 1959.

SECTION 2. The City Zoning Map shall be, and the same hereby amended, and this property above described shall be excluded from the zone in which it is now situated, and incorporated in and made a part of the zone or zones as above set forth, and said City Zoning Map as amended hereby adopted and the City Engineer in hereby directed to prepare sectional zoning map to be made to the City Zoning map and inserted in the Anaheim Municipal Code showing the changes hereby approved and adopted.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall issue the same to be printed once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Gazette, a newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final passage. It shall be subject and be full force.
