Anaheim Gazette Theodore B. Kuchel, Publisher Frank Hall, Managing Editor G. E. "Andy" Mellen, Adv. Director TELEPHONE Keystone 5-220 Published Thursday of each issue 209 East Center Street Anaheim, California Entered as second class mail under the Act of March 3, 1876 All rights herein are reserved JURISDICTION What happens when the case is brought before two different courts? Under California law, usually the court will first take jurisdiction hold and no other California court will have jurisdiction to hear the same case. How does this work out? Well, a "Quixote" county court named Bill G. dian of his mother. She was and could not look after affairs. Later with the court approval his mother went "Pancho" county to enter nursing home. But Sam, another son, sought to return his mother to Quixote county by a court act in the Pancho county county. Bill blocked the return though he had to go to a court of appeal to do it. This stressed the importance of first court's jurisdiction, ruling: 1. In carrying out his duty the guardian acts under first court. To it he must der account and may ask instructions. To it he is subject to liability or removal for conduct. 2. The court's power over guardianship goes on even though there is no further proceedings. No other court can take over that control. JURISDICTION What happens when the same case is brought before two different courts? Under California law, usually the court which first takes jurisdiction holds it and no other California court will have jurisdiction to hear the same case. How does this work out? Another Here is the source of all that Irish eloquence with which the people of Ireland charm their visitors. It's Blarney Castle, home of the legendary Blarney Stone that is said to confer the "gift of eloquence" on all who kiss it. The stone is set in a wall below the castle battlements and, to kiss it, one must be lowered head first, grasping an iron railing. Thousands of tourists annually visit Blarney to kiss—and tell! Ireland is presently riding the crest of a record tourist wave from America, with over 62,000 U.S. visitors expected this year—and, as usual, the majority of them will include a trip to Blarney on their itinerary. Lawyers look upon problems in court jurisdiction as among the most technical they have dealt with.
