"Old Timers" Play Jazz at Jubilee
Some of the greatest old masters of Dixieland Jazz — and the music born of America, will make rare concert appearances at Frank Bull and Gene Norman's 11th Annual Dixieland Jubilee, coming to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Saturday night, Oct. 11th at 8 p.m.
Many "Old Timers"
Such great artists as Lizzie Miles, the great lady of the blues, who played and sang right through the era of the "Birth of Jazz" are coming all the way from New Orleans just to appear at the Dixieland Jubilee. Also, from New Orleans, an all-star group featuring Johnny St. Cyr (who played with such jazz greats as Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver), Alton Purnell (a real "old timer" in jazz), Andy Blakeney (of the original Kid Ory Band, and heading his own group, Muggsy Spanier "King of the growling trumpet" — considered one of the all-time music greats.
And from the "Famous Forties"
of Dixieland Jazz comes the usual Bob Crosby Dixieland — which will unite Yank La and Bob Haggart, who are in from New York for the night, the Joe Yuki Band for ing Dick Cathcart, and the amateur group, the Essex Band and many, many more.

PONT
Those exclusive Wide-Track Wheels sparked a chain reaction of wonderful new ideas. You can see the trim, tailored new look... it's inches lower without sacrificing robustness or road clearance. You'll discover this beauty handles city commute and clings to country curves in a way conventional narrow-gauge cars can hope to imitate. And the ride... the miraculous freedom from sway, dive and bounce... that's an experience in buoyant travel that you won't believe—until you try it.
But there's still more to the new Pontiac to stamp it as the big change for '59:
Vista-lounge interiors with full 360-degree visibility... seats actually wider than a sofa... Air-Cooled True-Contour Brakes for smooth, effortless control, stop after stop after stop.
The industry's most advanced V-8, Pontiac's Tempest 420, gives you spectacular new responsiveness. And there's a new companion power plant, the Tempest 420E, that delivers amazing extra mileage—and does it on regular gas!
Come in and see why no other car can possibly be so new as the new Pontiac—three great series: the magnificent Bonneville, the dramatic Star Chief and the brilliant new Catalina.
